Brunner has the best chance. He leads McCaskill 52-41%

Steelman leads McCaskill 49-41%.

Akin leads McCaskill 49-44%.

John Brunner has a four-star rating from our list, while Steelman has a two-star. Brunner is very strong against the NDAA, CISPA, and has a lot of problems with the Patriot Act. Steelman has taken any strong positions, but she is endorsed by Senator Mike Lee (one of the few to vote often with Senator Rand Paul). Akin has some problems because he supported the NDAA and the Patriot Act, but he did oppose CISPA. Any of them would be better than McCaskill. And it looks like whoever will be the nominee will defeat her in November!

yeah, the primary is coming up on the 7th. I'm really hoping that Brunner pulls it out and even Steelman is a decent candidate.

I'll be voting for Brunner on Aug 7th and against a sales tax increase. :)

Awesome. Brunner's my favorite in this race. But I hope you won't rule out supporting Steelman or Akin...and I hope you NEVER consider supporting McCaskill (Harry's puppet)!

Same here. Steelman is pretty good, but Brunner seems to be a stronger conservative. Also, as shown by the polls, he has a better chance of winning.(rumors are that McCaskill would rather compete against Akin).

yeah, im sure she would. The big Dem. PAC is attacking Brunner during the PRIMARY. That is really unprecedented. They know they can't beat John.

I can't vote for Akin, sorry. But don't worry, I'd never vote for Claire McCaskill.

I don't know much about Steelman other than she has signs all over my town...at this point John Brunner is my guy.

Steelman is ignorant about the Fed... its Brunner or no one for me. He is a great liberty candidate.

ya know, she REALLY is ignorant about the FED.

She is a big fan of Friedman. She is definitely a chicago-ite.

In '09 (or '08) during a class at MO State (in full disclosure, the comment was made in passing.) she mentioned that the FED needed to do more to keep interest rates low and "spur growth." Now, of course, since then she has done a good job of towing the GOP line of auditing the FED and i do believe she truly supports an audit of the FED, but, her general knowledge of monetary policy is not very good.

I often time brought up the drug war and she was very hesitant to voice any kind of opinion. In general i don't think she was open to any kind of change and I'm pretty sure she simply didn't want to create an kind of controversy because the class was suppose to be more about a fuckin' coombaya hold hands and talk about issues type vibe rather than a real discussion. Oh, and she was very supportive of the Patriot Act, even arguing that it was completely constitutional and that there were no clauses that enabled "no-knock searches" and such other civil liberty violations.

I've probably mentioned that 5 or 6 times but i just hope no one on this forum makes her his/her first choice.

did you guys see the new rasmussen? Brunner and Steelman both lead McCaskill by 6. I think this is going to be a TIGHT primary.

I think Ron would. I wouldn't hold your breath for Rand though. lol

Why not Rand? if anything i'd think it would be the other way around. John has ran more of a traditional GOP campaign than a libertarian one. It is kind of interesting why there hasn't been any endorsement. YAL has endorsed Brunner and evem Jack Hunter talked about Brunner and how good he is during one of his YT videos. So i am kind of baffled as to why no endrosement. It might be simply that Rand and Ron are probably not very well-liked in the state and wouldn't carry much weight.

Cause he's no Mitt Romney... ;)

(Yeah, my feelings are still hurt)

I think the whole "libertarian/Libertarian" thing is a mess. There is a lot of fighting amongst the group. Ron is a Constitutional Conservative with a 100% rating from the JBS. Brunner claims to be a Constitutional Conservative.

Yeah, and one of the guys from the STL meetup said that Brunner carries around a constitution personally signed by Ron Paul. I don't know if he was just pandering or if he actually carries it around everywhere he goes.

How does the rest of your ballot look?

I'm obviously going to ask for a republican ballot so I can vote for John Brunner.

Rest looks like this:

Bill Randles - Gov
Peter Kinder - Lt. Gov
Bill Stouffer - SoS
Adam Lee Warren - Atty. Gen.

I'm voting against various tax increases. There is an interesting Constitutional Amendment that strikes me as odd because given the US Constitution we have, why would Missouri need to state/add this to OUR Constitution?

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT NO. 2
Proposed by the 96th General Assembly (First Regular Session) HJR 2

Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to ensure:
- That the right of Missouri citizens to express their religious beliefs shall not be infringed;
- That school children have the right to pray and acknowledge God voluntarily in their schools; and
- That all public schools shall display the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution.

It is estimated this proposal will result in little or no costs or savings for state and local governmental entities.

I'm going to vote yes. ^

for the same reason that Rand Paul has to introduce a bill stating that gov't cannot use drones to violate the 4th amendment. Just to build an even stronger case if we are challenged on that point.

secondly, Mike Carter is an attornery in STL (or Columbia, can't remember which) who is running for Lt. Gov. and is a big Ron Paul guy. posts in the fb group and has been active within the grassroots. Granted, he isn't going to win but if you are voting purely on principal then he would be by far the best.

I'm with you on Randles and i have no clue about stouffer or warren. Haven't really kept up with the downticket races.
