Joe Scarborough: Why I voted for Ron Paul

When you disagree with someone do you always view them as half wits not worth debating? Or do you ever see people as potential converts towards the liberty movement? Like people who voted for Ron Paul (if they aren't already involved).

When's the last time you debated Obama?

Also...Joe Scarborough is no friend of Ron's, or the liberty movement. Some people you just can't reach.

Joe is most definitely a half wit, he believes the wool has been removed from his eyes but he hasn't the slightest clue about what is going on or else he wouldn't have gone into the spill on why he voted for Ron. I voted for Ron to advance the Liberty movement, not because I chose to throw him crumbs from my high horse

I clicked on this thread already anticipating that he'd write a bunch of garbage, 2nd rate reasons to vote for the guy who has been RIGHT ON EVERY ISSUE. Maybe you should just say that and save the "protest", "impossible presidency" crap for the sheep who get all their news from the shiny box on the wall.

Crap like this is almost as bad as the usual smears because it makes the non-critical thinkers believe that a lot of Ron's vote totals were just "protest" votes.

If I did debate Obama. I would be kind to his character and attack his ideas. If I attack their character, I prove nothing, and the other side tunes out any further facts I present.

So he's misguided. I recommend showing him some sympathy, and correcting him on his reasoning for voting. Obviously we're not directly debating Joe here, but perhaps someone here is sympathetic towards him because they find his show entertaining, they'll be turned off by the personal attack.

I'm trying to suggest that people might try to focus on attacking ideas, not the people who've had the misfortune of buying into them. I feel like this will generate more success in the big picture.

I agree. Joe secretly likes Ron Paul and the majority of what Paul stands for. You can't change neocons overnight though, and Joe still has that problem with our country minding its' own business.

But I was very happy for him to admit he will not support Romney or Santorum, and although they don't agree on everything Paul is the man for the job.
