I rather have rand stay as senator or be part of ron's cabinet XD...
Ran Paul can accumulate more CLOUT as the recalcitrant hold-out SENATOR from Kentucky/Deep South than his Dad ever did or COULD have as a hold-out Congressman from Texas. I never hear about the AUSTIN EQUIVALENT in Kentucky, y'know what I'm sayin'?
President Whoever accomplishes NADA against an unfriendly and uncooperative Congress. For better and worse...otherwise we can disband Congress altogether (save lotsa money) and declare this a Dictatorship. Benign, natch, nudge nudge wink wink.
Opinion of & affection for Rand Paul is QUITE split, compared to opinion of and affection for Ron Paul.
For the argument, say he is terrific. He is still UNSEASONED. Experience MATTERS. He is EXCELLENTLY positioned to gain it, AND to establish the ol' Voting Record.
With not even ONE TERM under his belt, ANY issue on which he takes the lead can be ridiculed as Inexperienced Theoretical Wishful Thinking. Being RIDICULED/DISPARAGED is arguably WORSE than being blacked out/ignored. If/when you get around being IGNORED, the slate is cleaner. There may even be grudging admiration for getting AROUND being ignored by people with different agendas and superior resources. NOT SO, with being marginalized as as kooky, quixotic, fringe, et al. Ask Ron Paul, that's harder to live down.
It is not EXACTLY true, it is not true ALL THE TIME, but it is nevertheless good advice: YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE TO MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION.
Within a rigged game, the deck is FURTHER STACKED against anyone right now. Obama really did NOT cause this mess. MANY an ambitious person is laying low til some cards (or dominoes) fall and some dust settles. Just like LOTSA private equity AND ILL-GOTTEN GAINS are snugly tucked away on the sidelines, awaiting greater Certainty.
Volatile market, volatile presidential politics...which came first, the Chickenhawk or the Egghead?
