Jimmy Kimmel show suspended after Charlie Kirk comments

"Encouraged"
Is it encouraged when you do not have any other option? As someone who was born in what was at the time communist Czechoslovakia, no nobody had the option. They were not encouraged. They were forced, at the barrel of a gun.Look at both Czechoslovakia and Hungary and the Soviet invasions of each when either one got the tiniest but out of line. I would stop embarrassing myself if I were you. I'll give you the advice a boss of mine gave me. "Never to to defend a bad position"
The United States has invaded Haiti multiple times. I don't consider Haiti a U.S. colony. But whatever.

Colonialism is just a subset of imperialism. A country can be imperialist without being colonialist.

Sometimes, client states (such as the "Soviet bloc" countries) are a more feasible and flexible option for imperialist ambitions than colonies (or outright annexations).

The U.S. seems to have exercised most of its colonialist impulses primarily in the Pacific (e.g., Hawaii) rather than in the Atlantic (though there is Puerto Rico).

And now we have MAGA vs antifa. (Dumb vs dumberer). God help us!
Imagine how much better off this nation would be if no one had ever pointed a camera at either Antifa or Donald Trump.

My guess is it wouldn't be better off by much, if any (and might even be worse).

Antifa and Trump/MAGA are just symptoms.

The pathologies of dysfunction underlying mass democracy at a scale of over a third of a billion people - with factions contesting for control of an overweening State that arrogates to itself the exercise of at least some degree of authority over almost every aspect of life and society - are going to express themselves one way or and another (and another, and another ...). Trump and Antifa are just two particular manifestations we happened to end up with. If it had not been them, then it would have been something else also unedifying and objectionable.

NEW: The man who shot up the ABC affiliate in Sacramento following the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel, has been identified as Anibal Hernandez-Santana.

An X account that appears to belong to Hernandez-Santana is full of anti-Trump posts, as reported by Variety.

The man, 64, previously worked as a legislative director for the California Federation of Teachers, the outlet reported.

“The authoritarian oligarchy is now complete. CBS+ caving, big law firms in DC, the subservients FBI and AG, university presidents stepping down, fan boys SCOTUS, public radio, ICE goons. We are going to have to ‘fight like hell’…” the account that appears to belong to him posted in July.

Hernandez-Santana was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm, and shooting into an occupied building.

Insane.

Disney Hit With Legal Salvo From Shareholders Over Jimmy Kimmel Suspension
Several investors in Walt Disney DIS.N on Wednesday asked the media giant to share documents about its decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel‘s show last week for inspection.
...
In a letter to the company, lawyers for the American Federation of Teachers, U.S. labor federation AFL-CIO, and Reporters Without Borders requested Disney to turn over records related to Kimmel‘s suspension.

The demand seeks to probe potential wrongdoing, mismanagement and fiduciary breaches by the Disney board and its leadership, according to the letter.

“There is a credible basis to suspect that the board and executives may have breached their fiduciary duties of loyalty, care, and good faith by placing improper political or affiliate considerations above” Disney and its shareholders’ best interests, the letter said.

The shareholders are pushing for documents, including materials that estimate the potential impact of the suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Disney’s revenue and agreements with affiliate networks Nexstar NXST.O and Sinclair SBGI.O, which refused to air the show.

The groups’ lawyers said they would sue for the records if Disney does not share the requested information within five business days.

This montage will run for a week, from Sept. 25, across 28 YouTube channels, including those of the male viewership-skewing hosts Rogan, Singh, Dillon, Kill Tony, Theo Von, and Andrew Schulz. The NFL, UFC and ESPN College Football channels will also reportedly be targeted.

I oppose the FCC threatening ABC but not for libertarian or moral reasons. I oppose it strictly on strategic grounds. It’s a bad idea. We were already destroying Kimmel, no need to have the refs cheat now. It only gives the liberal media class a boost of energy.

I would morally and on libertarian grounds oppose the government pressuring a company to fire a comedian for telling a joke, no matter how awful or inaccurate the joke was.

That’s not what this is. Jimmy Kimmel stopped being a comedian years ago. He became a regime mouth piece willingly and knowingly. He is part of the cathedral.

This is closer to the CIA feuding with the FBI. It’s two criminal elements of the regime fighting, both of whom are enemies of liberty.

Nexstar and Sinclair bring Jimmy Kimmel’s show back, ending boycotts
Nexstar Media Group joined Sinclair Broadcast Group in bringing Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show back to its local TV stations on Friday night, ending a dayslong TV blackout for dozens of cities across the U.S.

The companies suspended the program over remarks the comedian made in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s killing. The move means “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return to local TV on Nexstar’s ABC affiliates in 28 cities, along with the 38 stations where Sinclair agreed to restore the show.

The show will also return to Sinclair’s local TV markets from Seattle to Washington, D.C.

Matthew Dolgin, senior equity analyst at research firm Morningstar, said he wasn’t surprised by Sinclair’s decision.

...

“The relationship with Disney is far too important for these firms to risk,” Dolgin said. And setting aside legal rights from either side, he added, “Disney would’ve been free to take its affiliate agreements elsewhere in 2026 if these relationships were too difficult. That scenario would be devastating to Nexstar and Sinclair.”
