Jimmy Carter says Civil War was unnecessary

duckies, andrew johnson KNEW he'd be tried if he fired sec' stanton...
prof. woodrow wilson was more correct than was henry cabot lodge senior...
harry s. truman in a good way was a missouri politician and was basically quite honest
i tossed in grover cleveland for good measure because he did not expand the powers of the presidency...

Wait a freakin' minute .
Ron Paul said that The Civil War was unnecessary and that slavery could have been ended without a War, and Folks jumped all over it. He was declared a madman and a kook. :(

Now because Carter says it it's just fine? WTF?

As far as Carter goes, I like the guy but he wasn't much of a President.

in leadership terms, abe lincoln and jeff davis were vastly inferior to the hypothetical
dude who could have brought both sides together yet somehow didn't... when we speak
of lincoln's leadership abilities, its due to the way he kept his head above the turmoil...

ARATUS the happy soapbox orator looks above...

truely pcosmar has made a very telling comment!

Did you not read the article? They called him a kook too.

Jimmy Carter just got some points from me. He might yet turn out to die in positive territory.

Our intentions in the New World aren't to sit peacefully at seperate dinner tables as a family of pimping masters and whoring slaves. That is not our goal but was once the persecution that every minor culture suffered while living in the old world. Much to the contrary, our intentions as Americans is to form a new culture sitting as one nation at an undivided dinner table. If we have to be violent to do so, so be it.

Carter is the most misunderstood misrepresented president in the history of the US. i cant believe so many of you fell for the propaganda about him. Carters only problem is he was in the wrong party. he shouldve been a republican

Both the Republicans and the Democrats whether they be liberal or conservative are foreigners in relationship with that which is held to be self-evidently true and unalienably and indelibly a natural right within the conscience of every human soul.
