Jessica Puente Bradshaw Texas 34

Great! She sounds almost identical to Ron Paul, since Ron supports the Sanctity of Life Act and Defense of Marriage Act.

Allow me to remind you that DOMA will be ruled unconstitutional by our Supreme Court very soon. Which I happen to agree with.

The federal government should honor all voluntary contracts performed by the states. Doesn't matter the gender of the spouses.

I'm 99% sure Ron Paul opposes human cloning, but he might make an exception.

Can we clone Ron Paul from 1988 instead? He was a bit more principled during that time.

and to add diversity, we should also clone Penn (from Penn and Teller), Mary Ruwart and Russell Means.

If she makes a video confirming she is a Ron Paul supporter and voted for him in the TX Primary, I will support her - although not financially.

What you NEED to do is actually run or get someone in your district to run with your ideals for office. Don't get me wrong, criticism is not what is bothering me here, what bothers me is your asking for extremely SPECIFIC views to be held by one individual. Your acting like that character in that silly Coke Zero commercial that simply says "and" then gets stock options, sex with a hot girl, and etc. Its frankly outlandish. We are not the establishment and we don't have such resources.

If you run for office or get someone like you to run for office, then we can get started getting excited and support your district's Liberty candidate. Throw us a bone here in south Texas. At least we are getting in the fight.

I'm not old enough for any political office. Even if I were, I live in a part of California that is overwhelmingly pro-Romney, and absolutely hate Libertarians.

I also, don't think I could ever run as a Republican here, since Michael Williamson (the guy running for Congress in my district) was forced to leave the GOP over his support for abortion rights and marriage equality, despite sharing almost every other view of the platform.

So don't attack me and accuse me of not doing my part.

If one hides their abortion rights and marriage equality sentiments underneath the veil of states' rights lingo then it may go over better. Just tout the fiscal issues as they are the most important this day and age and stay out of the weeds on the sideshow nonsense.

I also mentioned the option specifically to have someone else with your views run. I'm not attacking you, just trying to get you to see some common sense on our candidate and show you the nit-pickyness is uncalled for. South Texas is no better than your part of California. In fact, it could be worse. Our area is a corrupt democratic stronghold in Texas that is so pro-welfare that it would be balls to the wall amazing for our area if Jessica pulled a win.

This is true. There is hope for your area in California but it requires a lot of footwork.

You suggest I hide my positions on some of the most important issues? How would I convince Democrats and Independents to vote for me then? If I appear as a rank-and-file Republican, I'd lose in my district - which is becoming more and more Democrat (thanks to the growing Latino population)

and I'm not one for hiding my positions. My generation is particularly outspoken on the gay rights issue, and on the marijuana legalization topic.

I'm not aware of any Republicans in my area who are Paul supporters. I'm part of the local LP, but we didn't field a candidate in my district. (instead we had an independent - Curt Novak)

I'm pretty sure 98% of the RP supporters here are LP, not Republicans.

What I meant is choose your talking points for your audience at hand. Like, if you sense that you're speaking to conservatives, you go the Rand Paul route, not the Ron Paul route. If talking to a lib, then you'd want to make a point to differentiate yourself from the average republican. It's not about hiding one's views, it's about not alienating someone before you by laying every last detail of your ideology on the table. Less is sometimes more.

My heroes are Ayn Rand and Barry Goldwater. They didn't hide their views, why should I? I'm not the right kind of person to run for Congress. I'd attack Liberals for supporting big government policies in respect to education and taxation, and I'd attack Conservatives for not supporting women's and gay's rights. I'd also make withdrawing all troops from the rest of the world a top priority, something that won't go over well with my area (which has a ton of veterans)

___

and I don't think a non-religious person could win my district.

That's cool, just giving my take on what works for me in nearly every encounter.
