Jesse Ventura

Bob Barr kinda scares me. I like him. I think he's a great politician, but if we were worried about Dr. Paul's charisma... I mean, Bob Barr would be a wall-fly. His ideal running mate would be Borat.

I like Ventura. I could definitely go for a Barr/Ventura Ventura/Barr ticket. In fact, they're so opposite, they could REALLY benefit each other. and Dr. Paul can start the congressional coalition!!

I don't think Ron should run 3rd party. I had been advocating it, but I believe he ought to stay in congress, if we can't still win the nomination. Whoever he throws his support behind will get his votes. He has a stronger endorsement than any other person in us politics right now. If we are true libertarians, we need to start focusing on congress. Having Paul move from the house to the white house is great symbolism. But having Barr/Ventura in the white house and Paul in congress is a recipe for change!

Getting ballot access is really hard work and requires a big grass roots organization. Unless Jesse himself gets out there more and sounds more committed, it isn't going to happen for him that way. I think he should run for the LP VP slot. If they do it the same way they used to do it, Pres and VP are voted for independently so he doesn't have to be "selected" by Barr. He just puts his name in the ring and makes his case at the convention. I don't think he's ideologically committed enough to libertarianism to win the Presidential nomination, but he might be seen as an attractive VP candidate, especially if the LP goes with Barr as President

As far as charisma, in the positive sense I agree Barr doesn't have much. But he is a very good attack dog, which is something Paul doesn't have the personality to do. I eagerly await a highly negative campaign in which Barr runs ads attacking the major candidates hard for their positions on the War and Fiscal Policy. Paul brought the good cop, now it is time for Barr to bring the bad cop.

you could be right, i guess the ball is in Ventura's court. i hope he would do something more than talking.

By calling himself an independent rather than a libertarian, that alone will appeal to a mass of sheep voters. I know a lot of people who have said they like McCain because he was a "centrist." But they view libertarians as "kooky" or "flakes," and we all know what those words have done to RP's campaign. That's probably why he's not associating himself too closely with RP.

I don't think people on this board realize how uninformed most voters are.

I like! I like! Barr/Ventura would make a hard-core team.

Ventura would be an interesting choice, but I think his term as Governor pretty much sapped much of his ambition to sit in office again.

I think he ended his reputation when he brought up 9/11 conspiracy theories. I don't care if he's right, you bring them up as an argument and you will be viewed as a total nut. The man knows less about PR than me and I'm not even a PR person.
