This is THE BEST day for the next BIG effort -- It will come on the HEELS of a "good position" in IOWA, and a "very good position" in NEW HAMPSHIRE...

And if we band together, the RonPaulNation *AND* the campaign push together into ALL of the remaining "early states" and massively into the TWENTY ONE so-called "Super-Duper-Tuesday" states that vote on February 5th.

Plus, we raise a BOATLOAD of cash that the campaign will BE ABLE to use to EXTEND the reach into the SDT states ...and BEYOND!

And we can even REPUBLISH copies of "Common Sense" and get them out to the masses -- in a VERY affordable way!

I've been saying that the next moneybomb should be the day after (Jan 9th) or the weekend after (Jan 12-13th) the 2008 New Hampshire primary, but this works much better! I'm on board!

The MSM-watching fence-sitters who've been saying "but he can't win" will have a pleasant surprise and jump on our side by then, so it'll be the biggest moneybomb yet! Is anyone interested in experimenting with the idea of a multi-day moneybomb still using Common Sense as the theme?

I like this day too. I think this works perfectly in our favor also since it could influence the primaries after New Hampshire. Just think a big day right before the South Carolina Primary. The people in SC see that 10000's of people donate to Ron Paul and they come out and vote for Ron Paul.
 
Great idea. Now we just need Dr. Paul to write up a similar pamphlet for circulation to coincide with the fund raiser.
 
Hey that would work for me. It's my birthday, so I can ask everyone to donate to the campaign as my birthday present!
 
I agree, I brought this up a few days ago but was jumping the gun a bit with the Tea Party coming up. It is also a week and a half after college students get their student loan checks, and people can have their income tax returns if they file electronically. It could be really big.

Let's coincide the money bomb with a massive cross-county pamphlet distribution. The blimp could help.
 
That's three weeks away. The goal would have to be lower than the Tea Party or November 5th. The goal should be $2 million, tops. Most people are drained as it is, and won't be able to give as much less than a month after yesterday.
 
The goal should be to distribute more Ron Paul Common Sense pamphlets than Paine's document. The money can be secondary to the pamphlet distribution.

Not for nothin guys but, Nov.5th worked because of the movie, Dec.16th worked because of the original Tea Party...but Jan 10th? Most people, and probably more than that, have NO IDEA who Thomas Paine was! So we would actually have to create US History classes just to get people up to speed, let alone motivated to donate! I think, that if we want to have another big day (am I the only one who doesn't care much for the term "money bomb"?) at the beginning of the year a better option would be the 12th. John Hancock's B-day. At least the majority of people are somewhat familiar with who he is.
Secondly, I've read "Common Sense" and it doesn't quite flow as easily as the title might suggest. Although it's a very important, inspiring essay, it might be a little bit much, especially since, unfortunately, most people will really only find time to read it during the commercial breaks during the season premier of "Who Wants To Marry A Midget Dog Whisperer?"
I think, if we really want to stick with the heart of the good Dr's campaign and message, and we trully have access to cheap printing presses, we should keep it simple and print / distribute THE CONSTITUTION! Think about it, here we are screaming our heads off about the constitution and really how many Americans have ever REALLY read, let alone own, a copy of the darn thing? Especially if you went to public schools during the last 30 or so years!

My 14 year old daughter took slim jims and buttons to school today. All the kids were bouncing off the walls with excitement about what happened at the tea party!

She handed a pocket constitution with RonPaul2008.com stamped on the back at the bottom to her history teacher. He laughed. Told her that he should probably read it sometime.

I like the date--the Thursday after the NH Primary-- and I LOVE the "Common Sense" theme. When the lightbulb goes on above a new supporter's head, that is often how they characterize Dr. Paul's Freedom Message: it MAKES SENSE.

I would like to add two suggestions:

1) I would not object to Trevor being involved, but I would prefer that we had a more team -oriented approach and got additional talented people on board. Trevor is spread pretty thin right now with the blimp, and I think it reduces his opportunities to fully communicate; I think we saw this with the e-mail program for Dec. 16th.

2) I would like to see a goal for the fundraising that targets the number of donors, particularly new donors, as much or more than the money figure. By that point, we need to get the interest of voters who may be unwilling to make a large money contribution but are willing to cast a vote for Dr. Paul.

A possible theme would be to ask for "Pledges of at least $10" (or maybe just make it $5?) In this way we would encourage everyone to participate, while not actively discouraging larger donations.

As for numerical donor goals, we could try for 100,000 new donors and 100,000 repeat donors.
 
Anyone know if Dr. Paul ever wrote an essay titled "Common Sense" that we could tie in with this?

Right now I'm thinking of creating a piece that starts with Thos. Paines MOST famous phrasing (which is actually from his "The Crisis" of Dec 23, 1776 publication, rather than from Common Sense... but few people know that) -- its the piece that starts:
THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.

Gotta love ol' Thom's ability as a prose writer... stirs the soul!
