I've realized why Rand is treading water

I believe I have realized why Rand is seemingly going nowhere. A lot of this has to do with the rise of Trump.

Rand is viewed as the Constitution candidate, the civil liberties candidate, the outreach candidate, etc.

But I think while people agree with him on the principles, they are too abstract to relate to. He has got to bring it back down to the real world and focus on what is upsetting people. There is a reason his tax plan got such a good reception. He needs to continue taking on the IRS, but he needs to branch out and attack the other parts of government. Most importantly, I think, he really needs to go after the Federal Reserve and relate it to income stagnation. That also might help wake up the Ron Paul supporters. What happened to us dominating the internet? Everyone went back into their caves.

Also, Trump is showing the backlash against political correctness. Ted Cruz got a ton of support when he called Mitch McConnell a liar. As I have said before, I think Rand needs to seriously consider cutting ties with McConnell, who keeps breaking campaign promises, and sabotaging conservatives. At this point, he needs to call out McConnell and Boehner, and explain that his efforts to work with them have failed. Everyone loves a rebel. Or, he could continue playing nice and carve out a nice long Senate career but not be president. Rand needs to show he is willing to fight the real problem, not grandstand.

Continuing what he is doing is not going to work. He has got to tap into what propels candidates to the top while also showing he is different. If he only focuses on being different, he will be left to the side like a potted plant.

Edit-Take a look at his social media too. Woefully under performing. Why? It's too canned. It is too professional. There is no doubt he hired the best people to make the coolest things, but that isn't connected. Rand needs to just act like Trump and Sanders. Either talk directly to people in text, or with a picture, and make it sound like you are really talking.

Right and it's harder to look anti establishment with trump around lol

I think he can adapt and figure this out. I think he has the capability but the media will attempt to push its narrative in an all-encompassing manner as they usually do so he must be able to push his own narrative.
 
I think he should totally sue the NSA for 4th Amendment violations.
 
The problem is that he is running a campaign above the public's comprehension level as well as emphasizing issues that aren't exactly first hand relatable. If he can draw them in with some populist positions, maybe they'll listen and he can expand from there. Trump feels the angst of the common man and speaks their language in a very confident tone. Rand could learn from him.

The only important piece missing from Rand's platform is a budget that cuts spending by an eye-popping amount, with emphasis on eliminating corporate welfare and returning various functions to the states (education e.g.). This shouldn't be difficult, since he's already introduced such a budget - every single year he's been in the Senate. He hasn't talked about it much, if at all, since he announced in April, but I'm fully expecting him to inject it into the conversion in the coming months, at the opportune moment. It's pretty obvious that this is part of the plan, since his tax proposal cuts revenues by $300 billion (Rand's not going to do that without cutting at least that much in spending, as that would just raise the deficit).

Maybe he should just go directly after the Democrats. Not just Obama and Hillary, he needs to go after the DNC leadership, possibly even call out their chair.

Rand could make another appearance at Ferguson Missouri. It's gone crazy again.

People are fed up with the rioters and looters in Ferguson. How would pandering to those knuckleheads help Rand?

Focusing on ONE issue and being known only for that issue, an issue that doesn't necessarily fire up people, is stupid and beating a dead horse. I never said Rand should change his position.

Grow up.
 
He's flipped flopped on too many issues. And Trump's signature issue the invasion from south of the border and Rand threw that out the window when he decided to be a Chamber of Commerce Republican

So many chances. So much potential. Very disappointing.
 
Was Rand invited to the Faith and Freedom conference in Iowa? Just wondering, because he wasn't there.

Also, was he invited to the deal at Red State?
