I've changed my mind about Rand Paul

[Rand Paul on Alex Jones, 5/21/09]

Alex Jones: "You're basically what I would call a chip off the old block. Your policies are basically identical to your father, correct?"

Rand Paul: "I'd say we'd be very very similar. We might present the message sometimes differently.. I think in some ways the message has to be broadened and made more appealing to the entire Republican electorate because you have to win a primary."

Rand should just play politics to get into office from here on out. No need to upstage his father on matters of principle. Just win come November.

It is odd to me that Rand is pandering to the KY electorate on issues like drugs and abortion, but then the Civil Rights Act is a different story? He shouldn't have tried to oppose it, since he isn't running as a straight-line libertarian in the first place. If you're going to deviate and oppose sensible drug policy to get elected, then it makes sense to do the same on CRA unfortunately.

I know... Unless somehow the Paul campaign planned some of this for some reason.

It's the same thing. Right to property = right to employ your property in any peaceful way. Putting up a "No Blacks" sign is peaceful.

No it's not the same thing. If you're "defending discrimination" then if someone boycotts a business that discriminates, you will patronize that business because you think discrimination is a good thing. Further "defending discrimination" includes the state being able to discriminate, something Rand clearly said he was against. I know what you're trying to say, and you corrected yourself, but if Rand supporters keep being sloppy in their defense they will make the position indefensible. Really I wish people would just stop talking about the issue because well meaning supporters are digging the hole deeper. The sooner this drops off the front page the better. If you don't understand what Rand was talking about when he mentioned the Interstate Commerce Clause to Rachel Maddow then you should find out before talking about this issue.

The parents always know... Remember when McCain's mom wouldn't endorse him for President!? :D

The guy who posted earlier on this post that said RON'S endorsement is enough is right. Wait 'till Rand gets in office. THEN criticize him.

There's a quote I remember that goes something like "To defeat your Enemy, you must think like your Enemy." - Hopefully that is what Rand is doing right now.

If that is what he's doing, I have nothing against it. THIS RACE will either make or break the Liberty movement.
