It looks like write in votes for Ron Paul WILL COUNT IN CALIFORNIA!!! (AND Maine etc)

@Sailingaway,

What is the proper name writein in CA? With your effort it was "Ron Paul", but I have seen examples where writein campaigns (such as some of the FB grahics) are using "Ronald Ernest Paul". Do you know what the Ron/Judge electors used?

It differs from state to state what you have to write. In CA I am just writing President (for office -- you have to state what office in CA) and Ron Paul, they have guidance that as long as it is clear who you are voting for they accept it. And you don't have to say the VP. In Washington state, however, you have to say PARTY not office, and the FULL name, so there it is Ronald Earnest Paul. However, in Ca it will be up on the Secretary of State's website tomorrow exactly how THEY have it, so we can check. In 2008 it was up as 'Ron Paul' which is why I put it that way.

Gezzzzuzz I just posted a blog about a nationwide write in for Ron Paul and forwarded these links on my facebook ... people hate me and befriend me now. lol Ohh well ... SEE YA !!!!

On one post someone said - me writing in Ron Paul is defying Ron Paul's message ... WHAT - am I ? What did I miss ?

On Oct 13 he was asked about write ins and he said he didn't want to mislead people to think he is going to win, but if they are just fed up and want to use the effort to make a point, they should do that. He said he wasn't filing anything because that was, to the FEC, like asking the IRS to audit him -- he wasn't maintaining campaign structures or accepting campaign donations. But he was fine with us writing him in if we wanted to. He suggested people hold their states/county's feet to the fire to try to get the votes counted, and make issue points if an actual write in campaign was planned.

When I post a request that people write in Ron Paul I sometimes post this picture: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A5u6HmQCAAAv6Kj.jpg

Ron Paul on writing him in (2008):
"I don’t think that’s very productive. Supporters can do it, of course, but in most of the states it won’t count. And if they can change the rules in a primary and not count all the votes, imagine what they could do with write-in votes!"

That was because in 2008 he used his leverage specifically to set up a 'vote third party' alternative with a four point platform he would push, and a major press event, only to have Barr have a huge public hissy fit that Ron didn't SOLELY endorse him. This time he hasn't set up any such effort, and specifically said what I said above. I'll get the Oct 2012 video.

Here, he starts answering the question about 27:25, thinks changing philosophy is ultimately more important than politics in order to get things changed, politics is a tool, and if a write in campaign can get some attention and be used for that, he things that is a good thing. Listen for yourself, starting at 27:25 for that, but from 25 on he's talking about what he might do next, and the entire Q & A after that is really good, imho. This was just on Oct 13:

So basically, he's challenging us, if we do it, to make some noise with it and get purpose out of it.

Eleganz set up a facebook page for a national write in campaign just yesterday (using a picture of my ballot sleeve, I just noticed!), link here: https://www.facebook.com/events/435286253196255/

Here is a tweet to retweet to spread the facebook page! We should add content, I'll pull up a couple of videos eleganz might want to use, the 2002 predictions and the 'Only one we can trust' and "new hope' videos.

Will the write ins be counted on election night or will it take days and weeks to get the results?

It will take days to be in the federal document. And this document only counted Ron Paul write-ins in 6 states plus it shows the votes in MT, where he was on the ballot as the CP candidate. http://www.fec.gov/pubrec/fe2008/2008presgeresults.pdf

If it is a large number, believe me, WE will advertise it. But even what you posted did count something for CA. I was calling them and sending emails to make sure CA counted them. This time, we will be looking for a large 'other' number in states. But just because you have one cite that didn't include them doesn't mean they weren't available.

I assume I am going to get blasted here for saying this, but oh well... I think the better protest vote (by far) is for Gov Gary Johnson. I would do anything for Dr Paul, and have. I campaigned for him/with him in Nevada, Iowa, Virginia, and NH, and would be campaigning for him now if he were running for President. However, I feel at times like this when he's not running for President, a write in vote only shows close mindedness.

I'm voting for Gov Johnson because I WANT him to be the spoiler for Romney. Granted the money will never support a liberty candidate anytime soon, but the establishment controls the money and the media, but the voters they simply influence (not control).

I feel the best chance for other liberty minded presidential candidates to EVER get a chance to win is by proving to Republican voters that they will never again have a Republican in the White House unless it is one of our guys.

Paul(s) go the GOP route and Johnson keeps the Republican establishment losing. Eventually we win. But please, vote for the best candidate running for President - vote for Gary Johnson and do not dilute the vote count of this good honest man.

This is the Ron Paul subforum, don't come to his subforum and try to argue his supporters out of voting for him.

I don't LIKE GJ, there is no chance in the world I was voting for him. A lot of people are going to write in Ron whether it counts or not and we have a right to be happy that our vote will be counted.

RON PAUL 2012

Fantastic! I'm glad the word is spreading!! Only problem is that he won't be 'on the ballot' as a write in, you have to write him in, but hopefully that will be the take away. Did you see the facebook page eleganz created? https://www.facebook.com/events/435286253196255/

a write in Ron Paul video from Maine:

If they are all concentrated in one of the 2 CDs, it may get interesting:

After the popular vote is cast November 6, 2012, the electors will meet on the first Monday after the 2nd Wednesday in December to cast their votes for President. The candidate who wins the most popular votes in the First Congressional District wins one elector. The candidate with the most popular votes in the Second Congressional District wins one elector. The candidate who wins the most votes statewide wins the two at-large electors. This is different from most states, where the candidate who wins the most votes statewide wins all the electors in that state. In Maine, it is possible for candidates to split the electoral votes.
