We'll never know for sure, and we'd have never know for sure even if that ass Rupert had never been born. But I'll tell you this: We won't make near as much headway moving forward if we discount our appeal to Blue Republicans, or the appeal of the Ninth and Tenth Amendments as corporatism fighters.
We exist here in this forum bubble, and for nearly seven years now I have been winning liberal visitors (say 'trolls' if you prefer) over to our side with this argument. Ask LE if you don't believe me; she has been here long enough to remember my 'Why Ron Paul is Good for Liberals Too' thread. They have us outnumbered, but we can make them us on the national election stage. Not on state elections, not on county elections, not on city elections, but on the national election stage. We can, and we have. Fox and Dubya and yellowcake uranium has made the Republican R so toxic to them that it's hard to get them into a Republican primary. But give them a principled, non-aggression constitutionalist, and you've got their votes.
The rest of it is academic. If we can overcome the mainstream mafia's attempts to divide us, to hide these facts from Republicans, to sell Republicans on the ridiculous notion that you have to out-moderate the Democrats to win, and to make Democrats afraid of Rand Paul, we have our revolution. Our successful revolution. The rest of it is academic.
'Moderateness' is corporatism. We are the middle ground.
