Did you notice how eager all the Republican Establishment candidates were to bash Democrats during the New Hampshire presidential debate? What a joke; but this is the holy grail of our phony left/right, conservative/liberal, Republican/Democrat duopoly system. Bash the "other;" keep the faithful flock together on the tired strategy of "lesser of two evils:" bad Obama, blah, blah, blah.

Bashing Democrats about big government is like beating your dog because he's a dog. The Democrats are the party of big government-- always have been (since the early 1900s, anyway) and always will be. Why criticize them for being what they truly are? The problem in our country isn't Democrats favoring big government . . . it's Republicans favoring big government. Republicans are supposed to know better; and do better . . . but they don't.

You just answered your own question. They bash Democrats for the same reason homophobes bash gays--otherwise, people wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

Hey--look over there!!

One must realize the conservative base absolutely hates Obama, so they want to appeal to them by using the rhetoric. And, what's wrong with criticizing Obama and the dems anyway?

Because it accomplishes nothing and is a distraction? If they suddenly had to attack policies people would realize they would be attacking themselves because the difference between Democrats and Republicans is the difference between Speedy Gonzalez and Roadrunner -- they ain't one.

Wesley-- respectfully, what I think is "wrong" with criticizing Obama and Dems is that it focuses attention away from the true source of our problem in America. The problem is big government Republicans-- the very people who are supposed to offer something better than the big government policies of the left. When both parties sponsor big government policies, there's no hope for recovery. And if we're ever going to change things for the better, the change will have to come from Republicans, not Democrats. Democrats ARE big government; Republicans (supposedly) aren't.
