In a speech at the Herzliya Conference, Israel’s military intelligence chief, Major General Herzi Halevy, took Israel’s long-standing position that it “prefers ISIS” over the Syrian government to a whole ‘nother level, declaring openly that Israel does not want to see ISIS defeated in the war.

Quoted in the Hebrew-language NRG site, linked to Maariv, Maj. Gen. Halevy expressed concern about the recent offensives against ISIS territory, saying that in the last three months the Islamist group was facing the “most difficult” situation since its inception and declaration of a caliphate.

Israeli officials have regularly expressed comfort with the idea of ISIS conquering the whole of Syria, saying they find it preferable to the Iran-allied government surviving the war. At the same time, they were never so overtly supportive of ISIS and its survival.

Halevy went on to express concern that the defeat of ISIS might mean the “superpowers” leaving Syria, saying this would put Israel “in a hard position” after being so opposed to the survival of the Syrian government.

He then said Israel will do “all we can so as to not find ourselves in such a situation,” suggesting that the Israeli military is looking at direct support for ISIS as a matter of policy, and not just rhetoric.

I have known for years that the Israelis support the Syrian rebels if not ISIS directly. There was a time, ISIS overran the Syrian army position near the Golan heights. Makes you think, why in the world would ISIS want to control land bordering Israel? and that's when you realize what is going on

As could be seen in the attack in Orlando, Tel Aviv, Paris, Turkey and elsewhere around the world, the Islamic State is rapidly becoming a dominant force in international terrorism, with each attack inspiring the next one, Halevy said.

The Islamic State is the “bad in the world, the Amalek of 2016,” he said, using the name of a biblical tribe that is seen as the epitome of evil.

Israeli general says Syria has resumed weapons production for Hizbullah

Syria has resumed industrial production of weapons for Hizbullah, Major General Herzi Halevi, the head of Israeli Military Intelligence, said on 15 June.

Speaking at the annual Herzliya Conference, Maj Gen Halevi added that when combined with Iranian weapons trafficking to Hizbullah, the resumption of Syrian production could ignite another war, warning that Israel "nor the rest of the world should accept it. It could escalate [into] the next conflict".

He did not say what weapons Syria is producing for Hizbullah, but IHS Jane's understands they include "guided rockets", a possible reference to Syria's Tishrin (also known as the M-600) version of the Iranian Fateh-110 tactical ballistic missile. Iranian officials say the latest Fateh-110 versions have a range of 300 km.

The Israeli defence establishment is particularly concerned about the growing number of such weapons in Hizbullah's possession as they could be used to carry out precision attacks against strategic targets deep inside Israeli territory.

Maj Gen Halevi also warned that "the dynamics of escalation" could lead to an unintended conflict. "We live in an era in which it is most likely for wars to begin even though neither side is interested in them," he said.

He also alluded to what he described as Israel's unprecedented intelligence capabilities against Hizbullah, hinting that the Lebanese organisation has been extensively infiltrated. "No military has had more intelligence on their enemies as we do about Hizbullah today," he said.

Israel provides medical treatment the takfiri freak fighters when they get wounded in Syria.

Israel wants the Shia crescent destroyed and are allied with the Sunni who also want that. My enemy's enemy is my friend is at play here. The Israelis are snakes, as are the Gulf monarchies, Turkey & Jordan. Of course, Saddam Hussein was Sunni but he had to go, too, because Iraq was a secular Arab state.
