I'm sitting pretty - located midway between Scott Air Force Base (home to TRANSCOM, the logistics center for the DoD; and Air Mobility Command, command and control for air refueling and air logistics) on the eastern side, and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agengy on the western side. If the missiles for those don't get me then I expect I'll probably get some additional attention from the MIRVs they'll be sending to take out Boeing's assembly complex for the F-15, F-18, T-7A and upcoming F-47, as well as the ones they'll be sending to St. Charles to take out the assembly complex for cruise missiles, JDAMs, and SDBs. They'll probably lay out an impact matrix to take out everything within a 35 mile radius of the St. Louis Gateway Arch.

Guess I'll just leave this on loop until lights out...

Snickers is wrong about the fallout. The fallout is the real problem, most people will escape the primary blast radius. You need to be able to survive and minimize fallout exposure for about two weeks, before you can start going outside to forage. This book teaches you how.

I was a radiation protection specialist in the Army in the 1990's (M.O.S. N4). This is the most comprehensive disaster survival book I've ever come across. It came out of a government funded project in the 1980's at the height of the Cold War scare, and is a civil defense book. The premise was what could normal people do to survive given little notice. So everything in the book can be built and constructed within a few days with common materials around your house. It has designs for makeshift shelters as well as air filters, water filters and water storage and

The only thing you can't manufacture is the iodine tablets. Thyroid saturation from fallout will kill many people.

Thanks for sharing the tips for other folks. Believe me, though, I won't need them if there is a nuclear exchange, my current location is surely one of the first 10 targets that will be hit by Russian nukes, and I'm sure they'll send a bunch of them to be sure at least one gets through.

He's on some kind of wacky-tabacky. There are no "clean" nukes, the blast literally strips the overburden from the earth and aerosolizes it with the radioactive material expelled from the nuclear detonation. Any explosion of that magnitude would do the same, even a volcanic eruption (but non-radioactive in that case).
