I have an opportunity to go to the National RLC convention this month in the same city that I live, but I don't like the idea of throwing $100 at the assholes listed above. I know Ron Paul said the RLC "hasn't done enough" and that's one of the reasons he started the CFL. What are your thoughts on this?

In some states the RLC is completely highjacked by neocons.

This.

Go to the convention and ask why those particula candidates have not sponsored the bill you pointed out. If you want to make a change, then make it.

IF you want to see a change, then wait. Could be a while.

RLC has a slightly different purpose. They can endorse candidates; C4L cannot. RLC in each state is what you make of it, just like C4L. If it's hijacked in yours, get in there and take it back over.

exactly. i hope March 19th helps us all get involved again. No one will be allowed to hi-jack our message and be legit.

WE WILL NOT SETTLE for Marginal Candidates acting like Liberty Candidates.

They must past the Ron Paul revolution sniff test:)

would you like to get involved in our grassroots project. Love to have you write a few articles for us, please email me thru rpf if interested and i can fill you in:)

CR2012

um, it would be difficult for my hometown Congressman Steve Chabot to cosponsor since he was defeated for re-election...

I will assure you of this...

The RLC in the State of Florida is NOT a farce. And following the March 27-29th Convention this will become even more evident!

Check out the Convention Details:

in my area, the RLC is where it's happening. we don't get much or need much support from state or national organizations, though, because we are acting locally. that would probably be true just about anywhere, so if you want your local RLC to be better then sign up if you haven't already and work to beef it up.

So, because two websites have differing information, you're trying to call an entire organization a farce? Especially in the defense of the CFL, which is a total Charlie Foxtrot here in Florida. MIA state leader, their most active member was kicked out for just speaking his mind, and there's no support from the national or state level at all. I'm amazed the CFL branches in Jacksonville and Orlando - which only borrow the CFL name, really - are able to do as much as they can, and it's only because they dropped the idea of waiting for support from above and set about doing their own thing. And the guy who took charge in Orlando is that very active member who was booted!

Does the RLC have some problems? Sure, every organization does. But to call it a farce because its information differs from that on the CFL site? And what are you trying to say? That because the RLC hasn't managed to convert every neocon we must be failing? So, tell me... how many of them has the CFL converted? How much has the CFL done in local areas to change the political landscape? I've seen a lot from the RLC. Not so much from the CFL. Of course, they haven't even gotten their act together enough to coordinate anything, so that's no surprise.

I'd suggest you try learning something about the organizations you're discussing before attacking them.

As for me, I support both the RLC and CFL and am a fully-paid member of each, and I will likely soon sign up for the precinct leader program. If you have a problem with that, I don't really care. You have three options: Lead, follow, or go home and stay out of our way. I choose to lead. If you don't want to lead, and you don't want to follow, and you just want to make noise and stir up trouble, then I suggest you go home.

Oh, and I'd like to point out that here in Jacksonville, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Northeast Florida and the Northeast Florida Campaign For Liberty are working together quite well, thank you. I just attended another of the NEFLCFL's Liberty Breakfasts yesterday morning and attend a meeting they were helping to host today. We plan on working together for some events within the next month, and we worked together very effectively for the End The Fed rally in Jacksonville.

So, to review for everyone: In Jacksonville, the RLC and CFL are working together very well. In Jacksonville, the RLC has started shifting the Republican party toward liberty ideals in a big way, and is getting support from the local REC, and we will even have the Duval County REC Chairman speaking at the convention. And Jesse Benton will be at the convention as well.

RCA is supposedly in Jacksonville. Yet somehow he doesn't know any of this.

Just putting things in perspective, people.

I didn't say the RLC of NFL was a farce, just the RLC, and it was a question not a statement of fact. Factions within the RLC that are "do-gooders" wasn't my concern because it's the overall picture that has resulted in at least 17 RLC-endorsed Congressmen from not co-sponsoring HR 1207. This, from an organization that has been around since 1991 is uncalled for. The CFL would have to be around another 18 years for you to even begin to make comparisons.

Also, you're the Co-Chairman of Marketing and Promotions for the RLC of NFL? Well, why don't you worry about getting more than 6 people RSVP'd for your convention, since it's, well, your job. Here's a tip though, don't piss on the people that you want to attend or join your GOP fanclub:

Also, you joined Meetup in July 2008? Well done, you came to the party a year later than most. I did more during Ron Paul's campaign than you've YET to do, regardless of your title. I was on the fence about this astronomically priced Convention, now, I'm keeping the "change" and I'll buy something of value.

The takeover or co-opting of many state RLCs by neocons or regular GOP party liners should serve as a sober lesson for the Ron Paul Republicans as to what could happen to them if they aren't careful in trying to take over the party. They could take over you. Don't endorse candidates casually because a party leader wants your group to do them a favor that they'll repay later. Later probably will never come. Be the faction that demands concessions from the others first before any deal gets cut, or candidate gets backed.

Thanks for acknowledging my concern and backing it up with useful information.

Yes, I am on board. Due to the mission and rules of the RLC we will be limited to promoting only Republican Liberty Candidates - but we will be a strong ally for CR2012 in the state of Florida.

Hey go easy on Soft Spoken Storm. He has been working very hard in the RLCNF and probably misread your comments as an unwarranted attack. Trust me we are being attacked from so many sides so often that it has become natural to go into "defense mode".

I would urge you to go ahead & register for the convention. It will be worth the time and money. The pricing is very reasonable considering the costs of running a 3 day event that includes a dinner with prominent national speakers. We have a nice venue and are working very hard to insure it is a top notch event.

Spread the word...

We can't afford to argue amongst ourselves - there aren't enough of us - YET. :D
