Is the Gospel of Matthew lying here?

Fine.....

I was scratching my head yesterday when your post said "Conceded".
I was not in this thread to debate anything but only to offer help in answering your question.

I didn't come on this thread to argue. I thought you were asking a question and were honest about what you wanted to know. Now I understand this to to be just be another attack on Christianity thread.

I don't usually participate in this kind of thread and will now bow out of this discussion.

I'm not trying to prove anything or start any arguments. I am merely researching prophecy claims such as Hosea and thus wanted to hear believers' opinions and reasoning on the matter. After all, I don't want to believe a prophecy is false if, in fact, it is true.

I, of course, have my own bias and prior assumptions about it, however that is why I genuinely wanted to hear answers from people with a different bias.

I am not trying to "attack" Christianity, if I wanted to do that I wouldn't be focusing on such an irrelevant/insignificant topic.

Sorry I didn't make that clear.

I don't believe in the doctrine of the Trinity either. From my studies of the scriptures, I can find no evidence for it.

The Bible is not intended to be an exhaustive encyclopedia of theological truth. It is simply a witness to the authenticity and authority of the historical Church. The fullness of theological truth, including doctrines like the Trinity, are defined by that authoritative Church.

Alternatively you could just sit by a bush and pray.

this is the counter-Theocrat gotcha, are they less consistent in being Christians if they don't rely 100% on miracles and God? Aren't they stealing from our worldview whenever they depend on reality, physics and themselves?

On Youtube, the user ProfMTH has some good videos about the Gospels, I highly recommend him for issues pertaining Jesus' diety, fulfillment of prophecies,...etc.

You are correct..it is an attack on Christianity...absolutely. TOnes

Do you just skip over everything I say? If I wanted to attack Christianity, I wouldn't do it on such an insignificant topic. I legitimately want to know if there is a good explanation for the issue I brought up. While I have seen decent explanations so far, I pressed further because I wasn't convinced of their soundness on certain levels. While this may have appeared hostile on my part, that is not my intention.

I don't think it was an attack, it was a legitimate (admittedly difficult) question. Both Hosea and Matthew were written in cultures very different from our own, and from each other, so the definition of a prophecy and the definition of prophecy fulfillment are different from what we would consider them today. Any answer to this question will involve some level of speculation.

Okay, here are a few more ideas.

Maybe this will help.

This question has been asked time and time again.

Thank you for the links. I'm reading the first one at the moment, and I feel it sufficiently resolves this thread.

I guess I over reacted in this thread and I feel sorry for that.

I am gladdened you have found a sufficient answer and I have to tell you, I learned a lot in this thread too. :)
