Is Ted Cruz really for a Ron Paul type candidate?

Cruz is a constitutionalist, but he's also a bit more toward the christian coalition than a pure liberty candidate. So... is he as good as Ron Paul? No. But is he a good candidate worthy of our support? Yes. Some people want a perfect candidate and will vote for Addison; that's their prerogative. My main concerns are that Dewhurst will get 50%, so no runoff and that there could be serious fraud at the central tabulators on this one.

I view people like Cruz as good for slowing down the progress of tyranny. I'm all for that and supporting these kind of people for that reason, but if we ever want real progress towards freedom, it'll take people with a real set of principles to get us there

Someone who wants to get us involved in another war is definitely not "slowing down" tyranny. They are rapidly speeding it up.

see the video above.

Ok, I watched the video. I really didn't notice before. He basically says he is in favor of all options including both diplomacy and military options. I don't agree but that still leaves the question of why Ron Paul would endorse him if he's just itching to invade Iran.

Im a huge fan of Ron Paul. But he has a really sketchy record of endorsements, see Bachmann (for congress) and Lamar Smith. I'm just guessing, but I bet this was more of something Jesse Benton told him to do.

Not that it matters since I'm not a Texan, but count me in the group that doesn't really understand the Cruz endorsement.

I wont be voting for Cruz, just way too many flags go up when I hear him talk.

I view them as people who need a little more education in liberty. I was rather like that myself in the mid 90s; I had to open my eyes wider.

Cruz is probably using us more than anything else. I don't trust him. But he's still a million times better than the Dewhurst guy.

Doesn't Texas have a runoff for the primary? This time around if I were in TX I'd vote Glenn Addison because he alone had the courage to endorse Dr. Paul without even asking for the favor in return but for the runoff I'd go with Cruz.

If no candidate gets 50% of the vote, there will be a primary runoff election.

The thing is, it isn't assured that there will be a runoff. Dewhurst might win it outright. Dewhurst has been running a lot of negative ads against Cruz and Cruz doesn't have the money to counter. I have concerns about Cruz, but I voted for him, because of Ron and Rand's outright endorsements. If Dewhurst wins, it will be extremely hard to get rid of him.

I hope I did not make a mistake. Time will tell.

I don't know but Ted Cruz leaves a lot of question marks

I think the correct answer, right at the beginning, would have been for Cruz to say "it would not be wise of me to get involved in the presidential race, considering how close my race with David Dewhurst is. I will take anyone's support, regardless of who they support for president."

What he said wasn't so great. That said...

The guy in the video was really, really badgering Ted Cruz. It was very unprofessional and unwarranted.
