Rick Perry Is Rick Perry Done? Releases Flat Tax Plan

Is a flat tax the entirety of his economic plan? Pretty awful, but not as bad as Cain. If Perry loses support over it, we will see the hypocrisy of the GOP.

I hate all these TAX plans. The Federal Government has no problem taxing us, they are quite good at it!
The United States doesn't have a tax problem - it's got a spending problem!
Any fiddling with the tax code is just playing around and not addressing the issue.
There is only one candidate who's plan addresses spending!

I don't really have a problem with a flat tax, the question is how is Perry going to cut the government to allow for it without higher deficits? Still waiting on concrete plans from these lesser candidates .

A flat tax without massive spending cuts and the ability of the Federal Govt to depend on much less revenue would be harsh on the working poor and lower middle class. Plus, it would take years to enact.

Ron Paul's plan is the right direction to take. Focus on spending cuts, cut taxes strategically to spur investment, with an eye to far more drastic tax cuts to follow once we get a little more fiscal stability.

Getting rid of all of the favoritism in the tax code is what is important, not necessarily just being "flat". If you must have an income tax, which Ron Paul does not want in the long term, it should not have all of the loopholes and shelters that favor certain industries and individuals. It should be a certain rate, with no exceptions, deductions, or write-offs.

An income tax system that starts at zero for the lowest incomes, and gradually works it's way up to 15% at the highest levels would be preferable to what we have today. Not perfect by any means.

As Ron Paul said today on Meet the Press, the best option is to eliminate income tax and instead rely on "user fees, highway fees, gasoline taxes, import taxes".
