Why is Rand still plundering into these ultra hostile interviews? Case in point this recent one with some jackass on CNN:

Why can't he pre screen a little more effectively? Or is there some "method to madness?" Also, do you think he is able to threaten networks like CNN? For example, after the interview linked above, should Rand have contacted the management at CNN and said, "OK, guess what? I will NOT appear on your show for at least another two years...." The networks would shit bricks and pull rank hard on their talking heads to treat Rand well because he will be likely very good for ratings.

Thoughts?

P.S. I am surprised I can't find a thread dedicated to this particular interview.

why should he avoid these interviews when he absolutely DESTROYS those interviewing him?

he is quickly gaining notoriety among your average conservative merely because he can make liberal broadcasters look like the partisan retards they are.

i'm more worried about them avoiding him. i need my daily randgasm!

That link doesn't load for me, so I an only assume you are speaking of the spitzer interview? If so, I think most people came away from that interview applauding Rand. I hope he keeps going on these shows. They can't really hurt him now. He just got the pulpit that many of us wanted him to have, let him go at it.

I wouldn't go back on Maddow.

I wouldn't avoid it out of any sense of fear, but she knew what she was doing framing the small government issue in racially charged terms. She knows he is NOT racist and knew however pious she was about whether it was racism or not, the echo chamber would brand him that way. That may not technically be libel, but it's nasty. Meanwhile it served NO non-partisan purpose of furthering discussion.

I don't think Rand would be afraid to go on her show; I just think he has no reason to so favor her. Someday, downline when he is well established and would actually get a benefit himself from it, fine. But she should reap consequences for using those tactics imho. Just as with politicians, journalists need accountability.

I do not trust the media. I don't think they are interested in his message, I think they're setting him up for a fall. Obviously I'm not hanging out in the Marco Rubio forums, but he's being touted as the future of the GOP. I honestly think the media us just waiting to trip Rand up, much like Maddow did.

I actually think you might see Rand avoid both MSNBC and NBC due to the fact that they let Conway on and repeated his talking point about the "repeal" of the CRA for an ENTIRE EVENING, yet only gave 15 seconds of retraction the following day (Mathews saying "Conway lied"). I think that was part of the reason Rand canceled with MTP, and I'd not be surprised to see Rand go on every show and network other than those two. He's not avoiding the media, but he also has no reason to give that particular echo chamber any time at all.

Exactly. Rand should focus on going on shows with serious journalists. Maddow made her choice to give up any pretense of being a journalist in favor of being a left-wing partisan hack/talking head. That's fine, it is her choice. But she has to know that she gave up something for making that decision.

I think they want to use him for military spending and figure after Obama gets an 'accomplishment' on the budget there will be time to trip him up. I'm not speaking of the Spitzer/Maddow types who want ratings and a reputation for tearing apart GOP. I mean the establishment media with a broader political agenda.

I think Rand shouldn't shy away from the media--especially how that he's elected. If he can survive Maddow's attacks while trying to get elected, he can handle anything now that he's elected. The good (or potentially bad) thing about being a senator is your there for six long years :D So I say let Rand do more interviews.

Plus, I just love watching Rand make scumbags like Spitzer look like the morons that they are.

On the other hand, I don't think he should reward those who attack in pure partisan fashion. I don't think his media schedule is suffering from not giving Maddow ratings.
