Iowa GOP Trying to Exclude Ron Paul from Next Debate

In case you haven't heard, the Iowa GOP has set a new requirement for taking part in the next GOP debate, which will be held in Iowa: All candidates must have been polling 5% or more in polls accepted by the Iowa GOP and Fox News. This is clearly aimed at Ron Paul. It will also excude Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo, if it's enforced.

If you want to express your outrage at this sleezy tactic, here's the contact information for the Iowa GOP and for the Republican National Committee--let's flood them with calls and e-mails:

This constant contacting of the Iowa GOP only makes us look worse at this point to be honest.

Why do we keep having this thread reappear. The campaign has told us to cool it, so cool it! Enough already. MOD please take those e-mails off.

Maybe some one is trying to make us look bad. come over just to stir something up. Ya never know.

Mike welcome to the boards.

This topic has been covered numerous times, and RP supporters should NOT be contacting the Iowa GOP per the request of Ron Paul PCC.

"Look worse"? According to whom? I think they deserve to hear outrage expressed. Anyway, if you don't feel like contacting the Iowa GOP, at least contact the Republican National Committee.

They have been contacted, and people are even reporting on how much they've been contacted by "annoyed Ron Paul supporters", they know we're not happy with it. We should focus on delivering the message in Iowa over this to be honest.

I think we ought to send the IOWA GOP and good ole Hannity at FAUX News a big giant case of DEPENDS and a case of Pepto Bismol because they are sure gonna need it when Ron Paul gets through with them!

Oh, well, I just found out about this attempt at exclusion today, and I was unaware that the Ron Paul campaign has asked us not to contact the Iowa GOP.

But certainly it should be ok to contact the Republican National Committee, and perhaps also Iowa's Republican Senator, Chuck Grassley, who is usually a fair guy.

So how long has it been known that the Iowa GOP was going to exclude Ron Paul?

Frankly, I don't care if they're "not happy with it." They deserve to be "unhappy." They just don't want their guilty consciences pricked. They're obviously unethical people to pull something like this.

I won't contact the Iowa GOP again, out of deference to the wishes of the national campaign. But I will certainly continue to express my disgust to the RNC and to others who might be able to bring some pressure on the Iowa GOP.

I couldn't care less if the Iowa GOP is "not happy" with being confronted over their sleezy tactic.

I know RP Radio has come out and said that Paul "is not being excluded from the debate". I don't view that statement as "confirmation" that he will be there, though. To me, that means there is a "chance" he'll be there, if he plays FOX's game.

I know someone said they spoke directly to Mary Triffany at the Iowa GOP who said he would be there. But I read something from her online, saying otherwise and that it was counter-productive for his supporters to be calling there. So, she is talking out of both sides of her mouth, just to get people off the phone.

I am not believing any of this until I see it in writing on Ron Paul's official campaign website confirming he will be there. Obviously, they know about this uproar from his supporters, and I would think it would be in their best interest to provide confirmation on his website that he will be there, if it was. Thus far, it has not.

So, I'm sorry for being skeptical, but I do not trust FOX News as far as I can throw them. And I know that Paul's campaign wants to remain on good terms with the Iowa GOP. All we can do is do our 100% best in getting Ron's poll numbers up. This is grossly unfair, as his supporters aren't even being polled.

1) Most people under 25 don't even have a landline.

2) They are calling the Neo Conservatives who voted for Bush in 2004.

3) There are many moderate Democrats who support Paul, who are not receiving a call.

4) Many people don't even answer their phones anymore. Just let the answering machine get it or don't pick up if it is a strange number to avoid solicitors.

So, the only hope we have is changing the people's minds who voted for Bush in 2004, which is extremely difficult.

This whole system of polling must change. 80% of America now uses the Internet. Maybe it's time that starts to be taken into consideration.

And the fact that the Iowa GOP is saying that FOX News set the rules and that FOX News gets to pick the criteria for who should and who should not be included in a Presidential Debate?? Who in the Hell do they think they are? News Organizations have no right whatsoever involving themselves in Presidential Elections like this. I don't blame Paul's supporters for being outraged.
