DURHAM - Derogatory remarks toward President-elect Barack Obama made on a social networking Web site are now the subject of an internal police investigation.

A police department employee claims the statements were made on the MySpace pages of two Durham officers.

"There's no exact words that were said," said Police Chief Jose L. Lopez Sr. in a telephone interview Wednesday from San Diego, where he is attending the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference. "It wasn't a racial slur, but we're still investigating it."

*sigh*

So we can't say anything negative towards Obama? People make fun of Bush all the time, yet no one does anything.

Well it obviously wasn't a threat or it would've been taken care of immediately, and it wasn't a "racial slur" (whatever that means), so it was probably a politically incorrect caricature of Obama or a rant against his far-left policies. Either way, reason #345435 not to work for the state: they own you even more than they do now.

Exactly. A threat definitely has to be gone after, but that would have involved the Secret Service and if it were a "racial slur" the media would have been all over that.

I really wonder what was said, but...yeah, pair stuff like this with the Fairness Doctrine and similar laws that are/will be in place, and our 1st Amendment rights are in the toilet. :(

Looks like they're just clearing the dissenters from the internal ranks. Nothing to see here, move along please.
