Here's how it plays out:

The GOP leaders slug it out until mid-Feb. Ron stays around and capitalizes on the (albeit minimal) media exposure from pulling in 5-10% in the GOP contests.

Hillary ends up taking on McCain/Romney or whatever other war monger wins.

Paul runs as a very visible 3rd party candidate. As the ONLY anti-war candidate- he will poll AT LEAST 5% nationally- likely more- especially if (as she will when GW's economy is in the toilet next Nov) Hillary has a huge lead in the pre-election polls. the leftist base of the Dems will vote for Paul.

Does this win him the White House? No

Does it win any electoral votes? Almost certainly not

Does it tell the establishment and AIPAC and everyone else who wanted this war to go pound sand? YES

Might it move some candidates in the libertarian direction? ABSOLUTELY- especially when gold's at 1200 bucks an ounce and RP was prescient!

Let's fight through the primaries- and then go 3rd party from there!

Indp't is NOT a bad word! An alternative choice is NOT heretical!

There is NOTHING in the Constitution about politcal parties!!!

Go Ron Go!

IF Bloomberg or Gore or Gingrich gets in - that just muddies the waters more- and makes 5-7% nationally that much more noticeable.

I've heard SOOOOO many people disheartened by our stupid two-party system. I do believe the people are hungry for something new.

Holy shit.

If Socialist Hillary wins and a Neocon

We can make sure the NEOCONS lose and maybe even win this thing.

get a Paul-Kucinich independent ticket and that would make wings on both sides flock to us.

Also, since we're no longer worried about "appeals to the Republican base" we can start selling this Campaign on the REAL big issue- the WAR

Yes!!! Third Party!!!

I agree. I favor the Libertarian Party, since Ron once ran as a Libertarian. They have ballot access in many states already.

This needs to be a long term battle, not just a one election shot. A third party needs to rise up and challenge the two old parties. Plus, a third party could win with 34% of the vote instead of 51%.

Build the Libertarian Party, get 400+ congressional candidates running with Ron, we need to stay in their face, not let them silence us, which is what would happen if Ron dropped out altogether.

3rd party runs get 0.0% MSM coverage, absolutely no chance of winning anything.
RP will loose his congressional seat.

I think 3rd party is a bad idea. We should concentrate on putting our people in Congress instead.

You think the media ignores us now?

Just wait 'til Ron starts a third party run. That's when they won't even have to mention his name anymore. An RP third-party run is their ultimate wet dream.

Not that I'm against it, but I'm rapidly losing faith in the discernment and critical thinking skills of the public at large.

Yeah...I'm tired of people saying that 3rd party is futile. We will have a lot of money and the libertarians and some Repubs and Dems. This needs to be a perfect setup for the next election. We have to think long term. Americans want things NOW, but we need to think realistically about the future of our message.

So your saying RP should quit after super Tuesday? Thats when this thing is over

1 month.

We need to continue on. Unless he plans to run again in 4 years. Which sounds nice but he will be 76 years old that means he will be 80 finishing his first term.

If no one votes for you in these primaries and in a major party, you will get even further marginalized running in a third party. Even Ron Paul said so after getting 1% of the national vote in the 80's.

No, not at all. I'd be all for an Indy run after the primaries, but we shouldn't jump ship just yet.

I hardly doubt RP will run again. His message will live on in another candidate. It's our duty to continue the message.

That was before internet media became so big. This campaign has mostly grown through the internet.

we didn't have the internet in the 80s.
he didn't have a phenomenal grassroots campaign in the 80s.

we CAN do this, if every person on the grassroots were to commit to doing what must be done.

Yes but its about his message. We must continue to spread his message!!!

And if he runs third party the media will give plenty of attention when he makes that announcement.

They will talk about the RON PAUL FACTOR for months because we had 10 percent in IOWA and 8 percent in NH.

We will make a impact plus spread the message WIN OR LOSE!!!

if Hillary wins and its McCain vs Hillary then there would be a place for an anti-war candidate, and anti-amnesty candidate but it won't work with Obama vs McCain.

wouldn't win but would carry some states, and force the house to pick the president

I would like 9 more months to try and wake up the sheeple of this country.

BTW, I'm going to write Ron Pauls name on my ballot in black Sharpie even if we don't run third party. I WILL NOT vote for any of these corrupt politicians this time around.

OK we're on the same page!!!

Thats what I'm saying! we must prepare for it and milk these primaries for all their worth.
