Gov. Mitch Daniels

Prolifers are thrilled that Indiana has cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood based on the organization's abortion business, and hope that the law will withstand a federal court challenge.

The effort to defund Planned Parenthood has failed on the national level, but pro-lifers in the states have taken up the battle to cut off taxpayer funds to the organization, which has cornered a third of the abortion business in the United States.

Planned Parenthood And Abortion

Planned Parenthood is a billion-dollar abortion factory erased more than 300,000 unborn lives in 2008. It performed a record 332,278 abortions in 2009, a 2.5 percent increase over its 324,008 abortions in 2008. PP performs nearly 30 percent of all abortions in the United States. LifeSiteNews.com reported the figures, using PP's data.

The organization receives some $350 million in taxpayer subsidies annually. It received about $2 billion between 2002 and 2008. The Government Accountability Office questions the organization's handling of taxpayer subsidies.

Planned Parenthood was the brainchild of the racist eugenicist Margaret Sanger, who conceived something called "The Negro Project" to limit the size of black families.

Like Ron says in Liberty Defined, even pro-abortionists should be against government funded abortions. It is an insane policy.

Hopefully this will encourage women to use natural abortive remedies which are very cheap and effective. I can only imagine how difficult it is for a poor woman put in this situation who doesn't want to keep the child would be going through if they had to put up hundreds of dollars that they don't have and make an appointment to have their fetus violently killed. These are the primary things keeping women from making and implementing their decision until later when the fetus becomes more mature and the procedure becomes less humane. Natural remedies can be implemented much sooner.

They should be. I am, and I'm not even a "pro-lifer". :)

Let the rest of the states follow suit.
