That's an interesting view. However, I believe having them home will require much less military since we would only be defending ONE country instead of 130+ countries.

Rightly so... since we would then be an isolationistic Country, de facto, we could give new meaning to the term "militia", wherein the greatest effort is being made to negate 2nd Ammendment freedom.

I'm a Vet of the last no end war, I did not support invading Iraq for that reason. I didn't want our troops to be put into another "open-ended" police action. (Seems that is becoming our specialty, of late.)
