A British disabled man, ordered to move out of his home to make way for developers, is believed to have cut off his own head with a chainsaw, police said.

David Phyall’s severed head was found beside the power tool in his flat at Bishopstoke in Eastleigh, Eastley, Hants, shortly after he received the eviction notice.

Paramedics and police were called to the scene after receiving a “concern for welfare” report. It was not immediately known as to who made the call.

Approximately, 70 surrounding apartments were empty at the location where they were slated to be bulldozed and replaced with new flats and houses. Phyall, the lone holdout, refused to move despite intense negotiations and a court order. He had lived there since 2000.

An inquest into the 58-year-old’s death by deputy central Hampshire coroner Simon Burge listed the possible cause of death as a “complete transaction of the neck” and “chainsaw wound to the neck.”

Better known as a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Thats nuts, pure insanity...Alright but how the hell did he stay alive long enough to completely severe his head!?

Haha... That'll get to those damned bleeding heart neo-liberal "job-creators".

A job well done, Mr. Phyall.

For anyone else planning to do this, please set up a distributed Internet video feed first...

I can understand why he was upset, but he shouldn't have lost his head.

Ba-dum-bum......Thanks folks. I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress.

the only way I can imagine that he was able to do this is that he positioned his head against a flat surface, revved up the chainsaw and tied a rope to the throttle, then dropped it on his neck....or he used a guide....or something.

it's a bit morbid, but I'd like to know how in the heck he did it....better yet, why did he do it this way? It'd be very...painful.

Reminds me of the photo I saw of a man who rolled himself through a band saw and cut himself in half. The blade actually grabbed his clothing and pulled him into the saw so once he was started into the blade, it pretty much did the rest.

Damn, technology really has helped man progress ;)
