Sunday evening, President Trump told reporters he plans to import beef from Argentina in order to bring down prices for U.S. consumers.

“The only price we have that’s high is beef, and we’ll get that down,” he said. “One of the things we’re thinking about doing is beef from Argentina.”

It’s a move many American ranchers feared.

“America first?” said Oregon rancher James Burke. “The independent rancher is always dead freakin last!”

“Ranchers don’t need market manipulation where the government picks winners and losers in agriculture,” said Amanda Radke, a South Dakota rancher and ag writer. “Ranchers need free and fair markets.”

What happened to "America first?" So we put tarrifs on things that other people made cheap (like tractors) and then import stuff that we used to make cheaply (like beef).

It is America First. Trump is just waiting on the white supremist nationalists like @Anti Federalist and @TheTexan to roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty and proudly get right down to work in those dirty fields and farms. The same goes for the high skilled workers who are willing to step down from their higher paid jobs to lend a helping hand. The question is, what's the hold up?

It's the same neocon thinking that's led to interventions everywhere. It's ramping up in South America because of the vast untapped resources.

This current beef (SWIDT) is to prevent China from having a trading partner for meat. These guys want to prop up regimes friendly to us and destroy the ones that may think about trading too heavily with our "enemy". Typical geniuses plotting global domination at our expense.

Personally, I don't want protections for US ranchers at the expense of our consumers - gaucho meat is just fine. But I also want regulations in this country ended so our producers can thrive on their own.

I spent my whole working life doing the most dangerous and dirty jobs there are.

45 years worth.

I've done my part.

From what I have read we had a big domestic production bottleneck of beef these last few years.

So that caused prices to skyrocket because when the stores sell the beef at the normal prices they just run out of stock.

Im pretty sure they did this on purpose so that real beef prices would go up to the prices of fake beef.

Since fake beef is traditionally more expensive than real beef.

Country of origin labels on meat could be a bit misleading. Since brands like "Farmer John's" are owned by China.

Wait just a cotton picking minute...since when is @PAF concerned about national security OR American businesses being undercut by cheap foreign imports?

You know the answer to that, which makes your snark fall on its face. Just as soon as the level playing field disappears, he's not happy.

Years of stupid regulations favoring meat packers over ranchers was bad enough. But now the guy you assured everyone was not Deep State at all and would always be America First started subsidizing foreigners in our market, that went beyond the pale.

Didn't it?

Undercut? Overcut? Foreign? Domestic? Unlike you, I'm sick of government getting their grubby fat fingers involved in everything because it ends up costing me my hard-earned money.

But, you wouldn't understand that. You advocate a commie-nationalist-government rather than individual freedom/fiscal responsibility 😝

You wouldnt understand national security then and if you had your way with the country we would be ethnically cleansed and our population would be replaced by invaders.
