I am not speaking of the first time, he wasn't contested by the establishment then. I meant when he decided to run for Congress again in the 1990s and George Bush / Karl Rove et al got a Dem incumbant to switch to GOP instead and backed him, and Karl Rove (I presume was the one, since the style is so like his MO) came up with the newsletter 'scandal' based on even then ten year old pieces written by someone else. THEN Ron needed his national network he had from his prior days as a Congressman, and had from his 1988 LP run.
