Impeachment hearings on CSPan momentarily

People had signs and the Chair compelled the staff to get rid of the signs or kick the people with them out. It looked like the dude in the camo refused to get up. More security was called. More audience members stood up to defend the guy in the camo. I heard a woman yelling at the chair that Bush is responsible for the murder of lots of people. Some people yelled stuff and left on their own accord. The guy in camo was escorted out by security. Someone took a picture which I'm sure will be on the inter tubes.

my stream keeps gets getting cut off every time Bruce Fein speaks.

Its getting as rowdy as british parliament.

It does show you, who definitely needs to be replaced in congress.
To indict the president, congress will have to indict itself because they ignored the constitution too.

Another good question. do we want to give the next president this much power?
Adds more gravity to this impeachment, even in the final hours.

I watched most of the hearing, which I thought was going to be a joke...but I was actually somewhat encouraged.

The Republicans seemed to be missing 90% of the point - they kept disputing the claim that Bush lied to Congress about Iraq, but blatantly ignored all the other abuses - refusal to comply with subpoenas, wiretapping, torture, etc. One of the Republicans hinted that the whole thing was just a "policy difference."

A couple of the witnesses also worked to dispel the myth that the impeachment process would be long. The suggestion was to impeach based on simply the counts of ignoring subpoenas, which would require virtually no investigation. Richard Fein: "It's open, it's notorious...just vote on it."

Bugliosi was awesome. He was presenting evidence that Bush lied, one of the Republicans tried to shut him up, and the audience booed.

Some of the Dems were very supportive of the hearings. The Rep from FL said that "this president has no shame." Others complained about being disturbed at Bush's conduct. One rep said he didn't want a president "who will protect me from terror by doing whatever in the hell he wants."

C-SPAN is re-airing it later tonight.

I was also pleased to see that a couple of Democrats seemed open to the idea of prosecuting George Bush.

If we lived within the constitution we would not need to worry about who comes to power... who said that? But here we have a TOO MUCH POWER at the top and we must fear EVERYONE that comes to power. Time to reclaim our powers back.

Bruce Fein gave absolutely superb testimony with regard to Constitutional powers which is what the hearing was supposed to be about. Mr. Smith was an obvious Bush henchman as were most, if not all of the Republicans on the committee. Bugliosi's testimony drew the most emotion from the crowd. He presented only a tiny bit of evidence that Bush took us into war for no good reason. But then one of Bush cronies tried to interrupt him saying "that's classified," which it wasn't...

I never felt so good after sitting in front of the TV for 6 hours :D I reeeeally hope something comes of this. I tried to send Fein an email of thanks but it bounced back because his email was full; probably full of other thank you letters I imagine!

Yes then we would have Nancy P. Go from very bad to even worst!!! Why don't they impeach themselves first for all the violations of the constitution they have made. The president is one man... the congress is there to hold him in check!! All this is putting forth the illusion that there is a difference between repulicans and democrats. It makes the people think now we got rid of Bush the Democrats will make our lives better!!!

Ive been saying this all along. Should we start impeachment on Obama asap?

The female witness (can't remember her name) made mention of trying Bush under a statute that carries the death penalty. That would be nice.

A couple of the Dems asked questions indicating that they would be open to a prosecution after Bush left office.

Oh, I saw Adam Kokesh there.

I actually thought that was him in the uniform getting thrown out at first, but I guess not.

I got pissed off watching too, because the Republicans were being such ignorant assholes. Overall it was awesome though.

It probably will happen in two years. Republicans will start Obama impeachment hearing and say that the Democrats are the problem. Round and Round we go keeping the illusion of a difference. First Clinton.. now Bush... then Obama the real people getting impeached are us!! This is so dumb... how can you people be exited about this. Ever seen wag the dog!!!

Iraq Veterans Against the War, Veterans for Peace and Code Pink are there and have been drumming up support for impeachment.

Who was that asshole who interrupted Bugliosi and said "Mr Chairman, I'm getting really close to an aneurysm here, do you think you could help wind this thing up" You can hear him here around the 5 min mark:

I found it, it was Steve King, what a rude prick. Anyone from Iowa ought to mail him and tell him so.
