Immigration Detainments That Make You Say WTF

Most of the immigration detainments have me saying "WTF"; but the "you" I'm referring to in this thread is the typical American. BTW: If you haven't seen the latest polling, the share of Americans wanting immigration reduced has dropped from 55% in 2024 to 30% today.

This particular case involves a man with a Green Card who had lived in New Hampshire with a domestic partner with whom he has five children.

N.H. green card holder denied re-entry to U.S. after visiting native Canada

Chris Landry is a legal U.S. resident and has lived in the Granite State since he was 3 years old. He has a partner, five children and a job in manufacturing.

He was stopped Sunday at the border in Houlton, Maine, while returning from a family vacation.

“They pulled me aside and started questioning me about my past convictions in New Hampshire,” Landry told NBC10 Boston.

Three hours later, the 46-year-old was told he couldn’t come home, despite having a green card and being a legal U.S. resident.

“They denied me re-entry and said, ‘Don’t come back or we will detain you,’ and the only way for me to get back in was to see an immigration judge,” he told NBC10 Boston from New Brunswick.

In 2004 and 2007, Landry faced charges of marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license, but he says he’s had no criminal record since then.

He was given a suspended sentence and paid his fines.

“I never thought that that would threaten my status as a resident of the United States,” he said.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection told NBC10 Boston, “Possessing a green card is a privilege, not a right, and under our nation’s laws, our government has the authority to revoke a green card if our laws are broken and abused. Lawful Permanent Residents presenting at a U.S. port of entry with previous criminal convictions may be subject to mandatory detention and/or may be asked to provide additional documentation to be set up for an immigration hearing.”

“It’s just very uncertain for me right now,” said Landry. “I might end up spending the rest of my life in Canada. Who knows if I’ll ever have the right to re-enter the United States at this point?”

Landry, who lives in Peterborough, New Hampshire, was with three of his children when he was stopped at the border.

The children, all American citizens, will make their way home in the days ahead.

Landry says he goes to Canada at least once a year and has never had a problem until now.

As a Canadian citizen, he couldn’t vote for president, but he supported Donald Trump.

He blames the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigration for his plight.

“I was definitely all for ‘Make America Great Again,’ and having a strong, unified country, and a bright future for my five American children, but now I feel a little differently,” he said. “I’ve been torn from my family. My life has been disregarded completely.”

Who TF told these clowns to go after legal residents and citizens???

Get the 10 to 15 million who came in under Biden!!!

Which they'll never do.

So now they're grabbing anyone and marking that down as a "deportation" to artificially inflate the numbers.

He's a Canadian citizen. Canada isn't part of the United States.

Some people right here on this website. I'm not sure how representative their views are. But sometimes anonymity on the internet allows views to come out that people don't openly publicize, so these views may be more widespread than they seem to be.

You think this isn't a good story? I love a good myth.

You better be good or else you get coal for christmas.

What message should we be sending to green card holders?

You can commit a bunch of crimes and there's no consequences?

Not only does it send a message to green card holders not to commit crime it sets the example that it has nothing to do with what race or country they are from so they can't complain that it's bias against their race or country of origin.

Marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license is "a bunch of crimes"?

Who wants to bet this guy also posted something negative about Israel on social media.

Wait sorry I ruined the joke.

He takes his marching orders from the Dinesh Dsouza official Republican establishment narrative.

Which only goes to prove that your "typical American" is a fickle, feeble minded mush head that does not have the strength, will or brainpower to hold on to what is theirs.

If Ron Paul himself was president, polling would indicate that most Americans would oppose his actions to control spending, cut the debt and stay out of wars.

Got em!

One of the 10 to 15 million who caravaned in under Biden?

No.

A White guy from Germany, another legal resident, Green card holder.

"Astrid Senior, the mother of Fabian Schmidt, a U.S. Green Card holder, said her son was stripped naked, "violently interrogated" and sent to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility upon his return to the country last Friday.

"When an individual is found with drug related charges and tries to reenter the country, officers will take proper action."

Although Schmidt has no ongoing legal issues, according to his family, he previously had a misdemeanor charge for having marijuana in his vehicle.

That charge was dismissed after laws about cannabis changed.

His mother said he missed a hearing about the case in 2022 because the notice was not forwarded to his correct address.

He also had a DUI about a decade ago.

>>>President Donald Trump campaigned on strongly cracking down on immigration, but the emphasis of his message was generally focused on undocumented individuals with criminal records.<<<

Schmidt, a New Hampshire resident who has had held a green card since 2008 after moving to the U.S. in 2007, was reportedly detained at the Logan Airport in Massachusetts upon returning from Luxembourg last week, according to Boston public radio station WGBH.

His family told the public radio station that he had recently renewed his green card and it was flagged as he reentered the country.

Keep in mind, a Canadian citizen by virtue of being a Canadian citizen, is permitted to enter the US for 6 months at a time.

They arrested her because they said that there were issues with her application for a separate business visa...

12 fucking days.

That's typical leftist fake polling, it's going up not down.

We already dealt with this, she violated the terms of her visa and lost the privilege that comes with being a Canadian, then she entered illegally without a new visa and tried to scam the system.

Another criminal, we don't need drunk driving dopers here.

Don't believe the polls.
You should know how fake they are.

Lived here all these years and didn't bother to become a citizen, or to follow our laws.

And here's one from another thread. Kasper is still in custody (since 15APR)

Story here (among several)

Do you suppose ICE could slow things down a bit, and just use some common sense?

Kasper Juul Eriksen, now 32, left his home in Aalborg, Denmark, as a teenager in 2009 and spent a year in the U.S. as a high school exchange student in Starkville, Mississippi. He and a local teenager, Savannah Hobart, fell in love. After he returned to Aalborg, he and Savannah maintained their relationship for four years, across an ocean and seven time zones.

Kasper immigrated to the US (green card holder) in 2013 and got a job as a welder. He married Savannah in 2014. They have four children with a fifth on the way.

Kasper and Savannah traveled to Memphis for what he thought to be the final interview in his application for U.S. citizenship on April 15, 2025. He was taken into custody due to what the family described as a paperwork discrepancy dating back to 2015. He has since been held at the LaSalle Detention Center, an ICE facility in Jena, Louisiana.

There are no reports of him having eaten the pets of the local population. Maybe he forgets to cross his t's or dot his i's on occasion. Four kids and a fifth on the way - ICE is always going to be able to find him at his home address. At least he's not in a prison in El Salavdor (kind of sad that's the positive spin). Well, he is a Ginger (an "N", an "I", a couple of "G's", an "E" and an "R" ... an anagram is close enough, right?); so he probably doesn't have a soul.

AF: He's already brought four white kids into the US population, and he's got a fifth on the way. All are of White European Christian descent (well, OK, probably Lutheran). He's doing his part to bring your dream to fruition. I expect he's probably already lost his welding job because he's been detained for over a month.
