I'm very worried about our country :(

I'm an ex-pat living in Chile. I'm from Seattle, WA and lived in Tampa, FL. I'm only 23 years old but in 4 years I have been into our political system and started voting in 2004 when I cast my vote for Kerry (didn't know anything about 3rd parties). By 2005, I've learned alot about what we're fighting and what's at stake.

I'll admit I never fought in a war (I have a very personal problem, I don't think you'd like to know) but my dad and almost every Gorman has fought in a war ever since the Revolutionary War. I'll also admit (without bragging or boasting here) that my dad's great uncle was a U.S. Senator back in the mid-1800s (Arthur Pue Gorman).

I remeber seeing the 9/11 disaster and had a feeling back then that we were going to do something bad and wrong. The war in Iraq was another one of the saddest days in my life and I had a gut feeling that we were doing the wrong thing.

2004 was a protest vote against Bush but in 2006 I voted for a mix of Democrats, Republicans and independents. Last year, I was focused on the primaries when a candidate by the name of Ron Paul jumped into the race. I was surprised at first and didn't hear much about him until I went on the net and googled him. I'll admit, with all honesty, I liked what he said and his voting record is the cleanest I've ever seen.

What really rallied me behind him was when he stopped Giuliani cold in one of the 1st debates. Then I said "He's my man!" and spread the word about him to my family. Some of them laughed at me saying that he couldn't win but I said that we're waking up. Throughout the year, my dad joined me and said he ws going to vote for Paul with me. When I saw him raise $6 million in 1 day, I cried of joy and hope saying that we can change.

I want to especially thank all of you hard-working people for spreading the message of freedom. Seeing how are civil liberties are being threatened, how government has been way too big and the erasing of our borders convinced me to stick with this freedom fighter. I hope many other apathetic Americans jump onto the bandwagon of the Revolution! I want to see that wonderful country I saw when I was a kid come back and want more of us to open our eyes and fight this threat. I will say this again: RON PAUL, YOU'RE A FREEDOM FIGHTER!!!

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the American people like their shackles just fine, thank you. People are stupid. You may be smart, the guy next to you may be a friggin' genius, but people are S-T-U-P-I-D.
People want us to get out of Iraq and the economy is the hot button issue, yet McCain continues to roll through the primaries when he guarantees us he wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years and admits he knows next to nothing about the economy.
Don't try to paint me as a troll and a defeatist either. I've been in this fight for more years than most of you have been alive. I supported Dr. Paul in 1988 when you were still in diapers and can guess that most of you "found" him within the last year. Congratulations. Welcome to the party, pass the arsenic.
I have the utmost respect for Congressman Paul, but feel he did a disservice to everyone on the front lines with his announcement. Truth be told, 90% of the supporters will fade into the sunset when the election is over. Those of us left will continue to what we have done.
We will carry the fight to the offices where we work, some loudly, others quietly. We will carry the fight to the malls where we insist on paying in cash rather than plastic. We will carry the fight to the ballgames where we proudly stand and sing the national anthem with hands over hearts, while others fidget and pay lip service to the flag. We will carry the fight to the homeowners boards, where we tell the soccer moms they don't have the right to tell the freak on the corner not to paint his fence pink. We will carry the fight to the schoolboards where we will insist on teaching science instead of socialism.
This fight began long before Dr. Paul become an icon of Liberty (and he is) and it will go on long after he is gone (sadly). For you see, it's not about Dr. Paul; it never was, just ask him. It's about the essence of what it means to be free. It's about the responsibility and exhilaration of Liberty. Don't get so caught up in the process that you forget why you have the process in the first place. Pull yourself up by your CAT 6 and find out what it means to be a free people. Challenge what you've been told. Let it not be said that this generation of Americans did nothing while the Republic crumbled or it may be time to cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.

Most have no concept of fractional banking and don't care. It doesn't mean I am giving up, just the opposite. I've taken the red pill and there is no going back. You are going to convert the people who are on the fence and have at least a modest amount of intellect, but the vast majority will follow whomever the hell is leading. They gladly trade feces for manure thinking they've gotten the better end of the bargain all the while not realizing they still stink. I appreciate all of your insight and comments and, just like in other countries, Chile is following this election too. Of course, the TV media doesn't mention our good man but, believe it or not, the most famous newspaper here "El Mercurio" had a few good articles mentioning Paul and his libertarian streak. I think I'll drop them a line and leave a comment about our good man to show that there's a small but faithful bunch of supporters in Chile.

Thanks for signing up! I may be a little more hopeful . I certainly think things aren't as bad as you think. I will agree on one point..just hearing Dr. Paul's message isn't enough for most people...because they don't understand that there is a problem (thanks to MSM "propaganda") and Dr. Paul doesn't present the facts clearly enough and with enough analogies for someone who is completely new to the ideas. I hope that by relating these issues clearly to their lives, and their bottom line we can bring a lot of new people around.

golfman is right in many ways. We speak of all of the wonders that a Ron Paul presidency will bring us, but we continue to put up with our local governments requiring a liscense to do business, zoning laws telling us what we can have on our own property, and government schools that teach more about how to get drugs than about our founding fathers. Land of the free? I don't think so. Home of the brave? The Jury is out. We'll see how many show up for the march on Washington. I'm buying my tickets as soon as there is a date set.
