Im sorry but this is stupid

I was born and raised near Huntsville, Alabama. Huntsville is basically a shrine to the late Wernher von Braun; I didn't see anyone trying to expel him or any number of other Nazi scientists we were able to steal out of Germany.

Odd legal stance considering our government not only looked the other way when it came to former Nazi scientists living in this country but we actually paid them to come here and put them into some of the highest levels of our government.

Well if they are going to deport him why not deport all the Nazi Sympathizers starting with the Bush Family? Next would be Arnold Schwarzenegger...

Or heck, go even farther. If this is the stance gov takes with sympathizers, why haven't they completely dissolved the IBM corp and publicly executed it's CEO's?

Would it be wrong to imprison an 89 year old man for a murder he committed when he was 17?

Was it murder, or was it accidental homicide? How has he led his life since he was 17, is he still a criminal or did that incident change him as a person?

This is horrible. Considering how we accept "Just following orders" in our own country and our own military just goes to show how hypocritical we are.

What I find the worst about this is that the lawyer is suggesting that he could have "simply" requested a transfer to the Russian front. What kind of idiot??? I mean, what??? I can't even find the words to describe the level of ignorance that underlies this suggestion...she obviously has so little knowledge of World War II that she has no business being on either side of a serious debate about what to do with this guy...or to suggest that he desert or defy orders? His family would have been right there in that camp or worse!

"I'd better request a transfer to the Russian front where I will almost surely die, because if I don't then in 70 years some shitbag idiot lawyer will prosecute me..."

How in the fuck did that woman pass the bar?

From what I gather, this guy isn't even charged with specific murders...it's just the fact that he was a guard at these camps...neither of which (Sachsenhausen and Buchenwald) were "death" camps like Auschwitz or Treblinka. Unbelievable.

I wonder if the Just-us lawyer fears a defamation lawsuit:

Justice Department lawyer Susan Siegal questioned whether Geiser's service as a camp guard was truly involuntary. She said he could have requested a transfer back to the Russian front, where he was initially serving, or that he could have simply walked away from service or defied immoral orders. She said the Nuremberg trials after World War II and military code established the precedent that following immoral orders is not an adequate defense.

"I'm sorry — Mr. Geiser did engage in crimes against humanity," Siegal said.

A camp guard or someone who rounded people up might have engaged, but this guy....? More evidence exists against IBM and the numerous peeps already mentioned.

Well glad the authorities are wasting their time on something useful like this. Its not like there are agencies of our government selling arms to mexican drug lords, only to be used to kill US citizens. :(

Yeah. The U.S. and Soviets grabbed em up like they were going out of style in a race to see who could get the most. Resulting in, among other things, the race to the moon being Nazi scientists in America vs. Nazi scientists in Soviet Russia.

Let's not forget the Prince Phillip's love for those Nazi's too. Yet our government doesn't have a problem with it.
