I'm freaking starving, any voluntaryist want to order me some food?

Did you get the pizza from Dave?

If you have any money at all, you can buy Ramen Noodles and a couple of cans of soup for next to nothing.

Ramen noodles have msg and the other flavorings are made in vats the Yakuza boil hits in to dissolve their bones. Soup is not a meal if you haven't had but three meals all week. I hope Dave has him covered. I get the feeling he would not be asking here unless it's really hurting.

To OP. You have put it out to the Universe. Ya can't always get what you want but you will get what you need. Yer a trooper.

I tried to order food once- but it wouldn't do a thing I told it to do. It just sat there. Staring at me. So I ate it.

I help people locally, and hope some of you do the same.

If you want to send me a PM with your address I'll order you a pizza. Let me know what's close to you, Domino's, Pizza Hut, or whatever, and let me know what kind of pizza, or if you prefer something else then send me details. I'm unemployed right now so I can't do anything too extravagant. But I can sympathize, been in some pretty dire straits myself once upon a time, so I'll help ya with a meal if that's all you're asking for.

Send me a PM.

I hope the OP is doing better. Please, folks, when you ask for help... at least provide some general guidance for those of us who'd be willing to help. Now there's no update to this, and it starts me getting worried.

Nope, I was watching and waiting for the PM, and I kept looking to see if the OP was still online, and he was for about another half hour after I posted that. Never got a PM. Some time around maybe 45 minutes after posting, I went to send him a PM but checked the thread again and at that time saw he was already offline. He must've gone off to seek help elsewhere I guess... I felt bad that I didn't send him a PM sooner but I figured he would be watching the thread. Ah well, I tried. I hope he managed to scrounge something up.

I understand it's not health food, but if you are starving to death, it beats the heck out of that. I certainly have seen times when I had to eat it.

*IF* he could get to a grocery store, he would have access to a whole lot of good stuff. Most stores have BOGO deals, and while it's an investment, you can also get a whole chicken at a lot of stores for fairly cheap (it will feed you for a few days if you play your cards right). Scrounge in the almost-expired area and you will find stale bread (croutons? stuffing? breadcrumbs?), dented cans (canned veggies + chicken, or use broth for soup), and cheap pasta (soups, sides, etc.). Ask for samples at the deli counter and they will usually let you try a few kinds of meat/cheese (but you'll have to eat it there). Ramen will work for cheap and easy pasta (discard the flavor packets; they will just make you ill over time). Store brand butter is very cheap and will give you a way of browning that chicken. Nab some mayo, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper packets (and some plastic spoons and forks while you're at it). Really keep your eyes open for things that are super cheap. There are a lot of them. Some stores have bunches of bananas that are almost black (still good and a bit of a treat as a dessert). Look for coupons, especially for frozen fruit/veggies, which still have the nutrition but not the short shelf life of fresh ones. Coupons are also good in the baby aisle, as you can get small packs of cereal and baby food for free if you are allowed to double coupon. These are fairly nutritious though they work best on dessert-style baby foods (bananas & tapioca was my favorite). Back to veggies: potatoes. SOOOOO many ways to make potatoes. Shred them for hashbrowns, boil and mash them, bake them, fry them, au gratin with cheap cheese and the aforementioned stale bread topping. A five-pound bag is still pretty cheap in most stores and can last you awhile.

All of that aside, yes, I would have helped out with this if I'd seen it but it seems the OP has gone on their way to go find some food?

Publix is my favorite supermarket

They had the big roast beef sandwich rounds here, right next to a sampling of OJ. No, it's not much, but it's a good way to get some of the nutrients you need when you're starved.

I love Publix, too :)

My local grocery used to throw expired meat and veggies in the dumpster , I Knew a guy , that raised some abandoned fox kits off the meat , and when young I would grab the cabbage to fatten up a pig or two.

I wouldn't eat the expired meat, but the veggies should be fine. My grandad would get that stuff all the time in bulk for his family. And the rest(most of it) went to the farm animals. But it was perfectly fine.

I had a guinea pig when I was a kid and the store down the street would take all of the outer leaves off of their lettuce and put them in a box. I used to go down and pick up that box of leaves and fill the cage to the top with it. The little animal would sit right on top of that pile of leaves and the next day, when I got home from school, the cage wouldn't have any leaves left in it but instead just a fat little guy squeaking for more.

Heh - I used to live on blue crab sometimes. It's easier being a hungry 20 year old female, I think. My roommate and I would just go to the bar, shoot pool with a low cut shirt on and drive home with full bellies and doggy bags for breakfast.

Yah, I'm pretty sure that's true.

If I tried that, I'd go home with something, but it sure wouldn't be a full belly and doggy bag.
