Was basically good, offering a freedom and democracy largely unknown in history or the world.
Was basically bad, denying the right to vote to all but a minority, filled with racism and intolerance, and allowing the horrid institution of slavery to persist.
As was mentioned earlier, too black and white when it's really a little of both
Also, the fact that the word 'justified' was used from the point of view of the United States; what war have we been in that the US government hasn't justified?
I just answered yes to every single one, because the question wasn't, 'Do you think this war was just?'
My answer would've been no on almost every single one, had that been the question.
