After months of soul searching. I've decided that I am staying in Arizona rather than moving to Texas or Washington state.

As homeschooling parents, we find Arizona's laws to be pretty badass when it comes to homeschool freedom and support.

Home prices have gone up a lot in this market, but I just put an offer on a house and it was accepted. Going through the whole inspection and appraisal process now.

It's not on as much land as I'd like, but it's phoenix... it's just under a 10,000 sq ft lot. Home is 2300 sq ft. I will have chickens, cats, a dog, great back yard and finally won't have to mess with renting anymore.

Thanks, RPF, for all your advice and counsel

Wish us luck in our new adventure.

Next up.... buying an Airstream! (Ultimate prepper fantasy vehicle imo)

You might find some fantasies are better left in the fantasy land. The actual ownership is a different story.

Really??? Am man don't burst my bubble. I am in love with the idea of having a camper/travel trailer. I've only rented in the past and Arizona is such a great place to get lost in the woods.

What's wrong with owning one? Serious question.

Sounds like you're settling south of the 'burbs, amirite? I don't think I've seen anything like your place in the city. Glad you found a place you like! :) Maybe I'll see you at a meetup or something. The community colleges host interesting events that are open to the public pretty regularly. Keep an eye out for stuff you like. :) ASU hosts interesting events too, but Tempe is a hassle to drive in, IMHO(especially downtown).

Hell yeah.... I'll be safely tucked away in Timbucktoo! (Queen Creek, and Sossaman). Let me know about some meetups... I'd love to jump in

I've been doing home inspections since 1999 so if you have any questions about your inspection/home let me know and I will be happy to help anyway I can.

Thanks!

My home was recently inspected and the man was very professional, found a few items, walked us thru the home showing us how everything worked and where everything was. He said the home had been 'really well taken care of' and stressed that it was in great shape. Everything he found was placed in a binder and digital file for us. He went everywhere, too. Crawl spaces, roof, dug up some irrigation line to check a small leak, etc.

Good news and a good experience. I feel confident I'm getting a home that's in great shape.
