I'm a professional marketer who can sell RP to anyone in 1 answer

look at all the marketing we have here!

+rep to the OP

you must answer people in ONE sentence, that is your challenge.

I also am a professional marketer, and you're painting too broad a brush here. Not everyone agrees with all of those positions, my successful approach has been a sales-like one, where I find the one or two issues that matter most to the individual, and present how similar their stance is to Paul.

I should have guessed you were part of this forum as well :D

I like this approach. Don't bury 'em with information - they'll tune you out (that's been my experience).

This past week I was talking with a couple of coworkers about Ron and they both said they had problems with his foreign policy. I asked them both "How many military bases do you think we have overseas?" --- the 1st guy replied 85. I asked "does that sound like a lot to you?" - he replied "yes" - I told him we've got 900 and his jaw about hit the ground.

Second guy said "I got no idea" - I said "take a guess" - he said "no idea" -- I said "take a wild guess" and he said 100. I told him 900 and his eyes bugged out of his head.

The third guy I talked to said he like Ron Paul but really didn't like Ron's position on deregulation. That's the first time I've heard that as an objection and didn't know how to address it....

I believe if you can grab their attention with just one or two hot buttons, they will at least open up and listen to the rest.

Thanks everyone for the responses and ideas!
As michael scott would say
KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid

There's no need to focus on the philosophy of his positions or even the policies themselves. You can simply attack the results of those policies and show ron paul as someone who was always against it. Someone may be for the patriot act, but more than likely they'll hate the TSA. "Ron paul has been against the TSA since day 1 and was for the airlines managing their own security like banks and casinos do."

Someone may not agree with the gold standard but you can be confident that they'll hate inflation. What about government agencies like FEMA that most people superficially agree with? "I think the national guard does a better job with natural disasters than FEMA does. FEMA is just a giant waste of your tax dollars. Look at what they did with Katrina."

If they're athiests explain how the christian fundamentalists took over the drug war and are costing us billions to take away our rights.
If they're christian explain how the prison system is taking nonviolent drug offenders, turning them violent, and letting them loose on our streets.

Everyone can agree on the bad results of these policies, but not everyone can agree with the philosophical reasons on why they failed. So if you stick with focusing on the results and show ron paul as the consistent anti you'll capture their attentions.

Shout out to all the WF marketers :)

I feel like a jackass for calling you out now. I posted a salesletter like thread here a few days ago on what I do at works, but now I realize...Oregon is hippie territory, so yours would work pretty well out there.

WF reprezent yall, ASW12 is going to be a blast

WF crowd, we should organize a media buy or do a mailing or something. Though I don't think the Paul camp will want us doing any PPV traffic, heh

I LOVE the idea of a mass mailing for RP. I'm pretty sure for free I could convert around 50,000-100,000 people to support ron paul in a single day with a well written bait style mail. But at the same time sending any sort of political mass email would be like walking into your DC and urinating on your servers till they short out. So its probably not something anyone would be willing to do. lol
Still I love the idea of a few WF guys getting together for a week and giving RP a few extra national percentage point in the polls.

I TOTALLY agree. Often the hardest thing for us supporters to do is forget about all the vast information we know about Ron Paul and remember to focus on the audience in front of us. Sure, if you're talking to a group for an hour, our vast knowledge is very helpful, but for a quick few minutes you really need to be practical above all else.

My best short answer to "Why Ron Paul?" is:

"Do you know what got Obama elected in 2008? It was his appeal to Independent voters. Registered Republicans will vote Republican in the end, and registered Democrats will vote for Obama in the end. So the best candidate to beat Obama is the one who takes most of that remaining vote, the Independent vote. And that candidate hands down is Dr Ron Paul. We are lucky enough to have a true constitutional conservative who also appeals to Independent voters. This isn't a hard choice, its a blessing. A blessing that we have both a trustworthy person and a great political candidate to oppose Obama. Obama wouldn't stand a chance in an general election against Dr Paul. No other candidate inspires people like Ron Paul does. No one else comes close."

This answer is simply targeting the biggest concern for GOP voters and that is who can beat Obama. Its the one commonality that they all share; we need to beat Obama.
