Illinois Ballot Problems for various candidates

Ummm, I hope the campaign was notified days before this reporter was, otherwise giving candidates just 24 hours to fix this is messed up.

Hopefully this isn't true and the campaign is on to it. How could Buddy Roemer be on the ballot and Ron not? That would be absurd.

Looks like it's be been updated! Only Perry and Santorum are listed as having problems in the article title now.

Paul's Illinois petitions used the address of his Virginia campaign headquarters. His campaign said his statement of candidacy used his home address.

This is no doubt in retribution for a thread here that I can no longer find.

Jon Zahm, the Santorum campaign Illinois political director, said four years ago there was an "unwritten agreement" between the Republican presidential campaigns not to challenge petitions. He has heard "rumblings of challenges," though none yet have materialized as of Thursday.

Zahm said if challenges surface, "we may be forced to challenge other petitions" because "we believe every candidate had vulnerable districts and vulnerable petitions."

It is not a big thing, but it is an embarrassing thing. It wasn't hard to get the address right. Someone at the campaign decided home address was Virginia, and you know, if that is where Ron lives in DC, maybe it is arguable they got it right. He has two residences, after all, but votes in Texas. In any event, his mistake only would impact the beauty contest vote, the real delegates are awarded off the slates and he already had those. OTHERS had trouble with those, and those are the big thing, but he didn't.

However apparently it is a gentleman's agreement not to contest there, and the guy at the party was implying if anyone got challenged he'd challenge everyone and find something wrong, so I suspect it won't go anywhere.

Huntsman didn't even apply though, more evidence of his vanity campaign. He isn't on in Virginia or Az either.

Newt Gingrich, Paul, Perry, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Buddy Roemer all filed the required 3,000 signatures for the beauty contest. Jon Huntsman skipped Illlinois.

Challenges to nominating petitions are due by Friday."

I think this is a "mistake" and by that I mean its a lie. I'm almost positive Ron Paul is on the ballot in IL, I say that because when Doug Wead was asked about Ron Paul's electability Wead said "Some of the other candidate are not even on the ballot in IL" I assume that means that Paul is while others are not. Don't worry this is just a media lie, nothing new. A washington post article said Paul used a Star Wars tune to be introduced for his NH speech. The media lies, you guys know that by now.

I don't see where it has been updated, nor any comments on that blog post?

This did not need to be put in Grassroots Section. I already had a thread in Hot Topics about this and I put it there for the simple fact stuff like this should not be aired out in the open.

I don't think you read/understood the article...

Don't worry, we're on the ballot. The article even says "Paul's Illinois petitions used the address of his Virginia campaign headquarters. His campaign said his statement of candidacy used his home address" meaning that everything is fine, it counts. On top of that the title of the article does not even mention Paul as having ballot problems. So it's fine, no need to worry.
