Illini Rally/Speech - Photos

Wow. This does not surprise me at all. I attended graduate school at the U of I in the late 70's. It was there that I was first exposed to libertarian thought. It is good to see that it is still a hot bed of libertarianism. Also good to know they have not forgotten the Chief. I think about it often and have great memories of the place. A great school.

I thought Ron's opening line about the Chief was one of the best of the night...

"You'll know freedom has returned to this country when college students can actually pick their mascot!"

I'm reading "Man, Economy, and State with Power and Market" by Rothbard. In the beginning of the book, it says:

"To Ludwig von Mises, and to the Libertarians of the past who blazed the trail; and to the LIBERTARIANS OF THE FUTURE WHO SHALL OVERCOME."

I see that future he was talking about.

Here's a nice pic. Not as packed as some of the other photos but this was before Ron took the stage.

+rep!

great picture!

And I know it filled up from a University paper noting that despite it having moved from a much smaller venue, by the end there were still students who couldn't get seats...

More than 5,000 students came out in support for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) Wednesday night at Huff Hall. Though the event was originally scheduled to be held in Foellinger Auditorium, some students were still left without a seat by the time of the event’s start.
