Illegal immigrant confronts Steve King; Rand Paul walks away

Yea, its an imaginary line but you are obligated to provide social welfare to people on one side of the imaginary line and do nothing for those on the other side. It would be a totally different case if the imaginary line were of no consequence to me, but that is not the case.

To the video, there are certain people who cis gendered, straight, white, Christian, able bodied men should try not to argue with in public and one of those groups are immigrant kids who have persevered through life to achieved something out of themselves and whose illegal status is no fault of their own. One is a lawyer who wanted to serve the country (that reminds me, another group you should avoid arguing in public with are disabled veterans) and I am sure if you investigated further you will discover that they are both organ donors too who volunteer at the kitten orphanage in their off time.

With all that said, I think Steve King (who for whatever reason I think is a racist - just the words he uses to describe some people) handled it very well. He stood his ground and he even didn't get fazed with all the emotional arguments. Also to the lady in the video, you do not apply for asylum just because your dad hit your mom. If every woman who have experienced domestic violence applied for asylum and was accepted, this country would be filled to the brim with new immigrant women with their children. I would even imagine husbands beating their wives just so they get the opportunity to come to this country.

So yea, end the welfare system and then we can have conversations about imaginary lines.

Most folks are able to let two other people have a conversation without succumbing to the urge to rudely interrupt them by the time they're ten.

Progs are not only unable to do that, they think there's something wrong with someone who can. Rand Paul not only didn't get upset with their interruption, he didn't interrupt them and Steven King. And this is supposed to be indicative of something other than maturity?

And they want us to let them run our lives because of their superior what? Their ten year old maturity, perhaps...?

That is a stupid meme. It thinks the line is imaginary, and that's fine, but calling Earth a "giant rock flying through space" is really pointless and stupid, considering it means just as much to the person who made that meme as it does to anyone else.

I see. I've actually been involved in the filing of some of these cases, and do have some sympathy for some of these folks. One client was brought illegally by his parents when he was one year old and grew up in the United States. Mexico would be as foreign to him as it would be to me. Honestly, to deport an 18 year old under those circumstances to Mexico, or wherever, would be somewhat cruel considering the offense was actually committed by the parents.

In any case, DACA doesn't confer lawful status, but it does provide work authorization.

Yes, thanks for clarifying DACA for me (i honestly didn't know the details).
They would be perceived more sympathetically if they weren't being "represented" by activists who can't seem to demonstrate an ounce of humility.

There are also some specific requirements in order to obtain work authorization through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals:

1. Entered U.S. before June 15, 2012 (when the law was enacted, so a child couldn't have entered the U.S. afterward in order to gain the benefit);
2. Entered the U.S. before reaching the age of 16 years;
3. Must have been born after June 15, 1981 (couldn't have been 31 or older when the law was enacted);
4. Must be in school, have completed school, or served in the military;
5. Must have been in the United States on June 15, 2012 (date when law was enacted);
6. Must have continuously resided within the U.S. since June 15, 2007 to present;
7. Must be 15 years of age at the time of filing for DACA.
8. Must not have committed a serious crime.

Let me guess, you don't want me to creep into your property without permission though?:rolleyes:
I support securing the border, just like Ron Paul does.

Ron Paul said he's against creating a border because it could be used to keep us in.

Immigrants work more and take less in welfare than Americans, especially the illegal ones. If you want to pay off the debt, you WANT a bigger percentage of them on that basis alone.

I really want to believe that, but you see it all the time on the news where some local municipality is complaining about budget woes when a bunch of immigrants show up in town. If it was true, you would be seeing local govts welcoming them in droves especially liberal ones and they would just do what they do (work more and take less) and make their balance sheets look better. But we rarely see that happen.

I bet the people who ran the numbers are the same people who think the productivity of fast food workers have gone up 80% since 1973. I mean, I want to believe it but I just can't. Actually, I would believe it for the ones that come without their kids.

Steve King has always been rock solid for America and the rule of law for decades.

He's the kind of guy that will be there with you at the sound of trouble or up ahead leading the way.

I give King a D on this. You have to either not address them at all, or address them the right way, which is very difficult to do in an impromptu, rushed encounter. Good thing that Rand got out of there in a hurry.

If Rand wants to lead on this issue, then what he should do is meet privately with a groups of DREAMers, have a conversation and hammer out these issues in a systematic way where no one feels rushed or needing to talk over each other. You have to get past all the fluff and fallacies and emotions, and get to the real meat of the issue. Doing such a thing though would be toxic for the Republican primary. If a Republican were to actually go out of their way to listen to anyone here illegally and openly treat them with respect as a human to have an honest conversation, it would be a guaranteed loser for the primary.
