My observation of OWS is that it is what Ron was talking about...the people rising up against the establishment...I think we should be on board with them...

Agreed. This is what I sent to my liberal family and friends. We share much more in common than we are willing to admit.

The illusion of freedom is coming to an end - peaceful people camped out on public property they are forced to fund are being rounded up by men they are forced to pay and pushed into cages they are forced to finance even as we speak.

The protected class can't stand the sight of the unwashed so close to their marble steps and have called on those men in costumes and fancy hats, with fancy helicopters and fancy weapons to do their bidding.

Whom is being protected? Whom is being served?

The American people capitulated long ago when they gave up freedom for security, when they gave up liberty for dependence.

"Keep us safe!" they demanded, and were given warrent-less wiretaps, undeclared wars, patriot acts, torture, and assassinations.

"Keep us fed!" they demanded, and were put on welfare rolls, stood in unemployment lines, handed debt and interest payments, inflated currency, worthless dollars, lower wages, longer hours.

Educated by the state, holding their worthless degrees in hand, generations unite around an unknown cause, knowing only that something is wrong...something...

They turn to their protectors, those men and women whom they have elected to run their society, run their economy, control their decisions, control their lives.

What do they find? Tear gas and screams, rubber bullets, and cold steel bars.

They actually believed in something called "the social contract" something mythical no one has ever seen, something intangible no one has ever signed.

What they found is something almost too hard to face - the contract is as follows:

We (henceforth known as POLITICIANS) own you (henceforth known as MUNDANES).

• We own your income and allow you to keep a portion of it - this portion may change at whim depending how much of it we waste or abuse. We'll call this "income tax".
• We own your property and allow you to rent it from us - if you fail to pay your rent (we'll call it "property tax") we will seize your property.
• Should at anytime you refuse to pay or resist when one of our collectors comes around do not be surprised to wake up in a jail cell...or not to wake at all.

You MUNDANES pay without complaint. If you see us handing your money to our friends - stay quiet. If you see us using your money to kill and torture - stay quiet. If you see us flying private jets, eating with private chefs, partying with those more important than you - stay quiet.

You may register your complaints once every four years. You may choose between two options. Please do not be surprised if your piece of paper changes nothing.

In the meanwhile enjoy your "education," your unemployment check, and your home in the projects.

Again, do not get out of line - or one of our enforcers will have to deal with you shortly.

Occupy your statehouse. Do not fight with one another. Take control of your own lives. Voluntarily aid one another.

Allow others to do the same.

people rising can be for all different reasons, not all of which are good demands for the better of , sometimes even themselves.

We should be "on board" with them rising up against the establishment, being against loopholes and handouts, decrying the federal reserve system, etc. But we should most certainly not ally ourselves with any of their principles about the proper role of the federal government. From what I can tell, they would have us live in a socialist utopia like Sweden.

Somehow, I think that the media would love that.
First show some wild looking college students who have lived in tents for a month, who are saying all sorts crazy things, then cut to the "small but enthusiastic" crowd of Ron Paul supporters chanting Ron Paul! without missing a beat.

There's no way that we can be on board with them. A large part of what they say is so diametrically opposed to what we think.

Should we be in the group, trying to educate and persuade? Yes.

TPTB certainly do not want the people united against them and will do all they can to retain power.

Anybody that spends their time at ows instead of canvassing for RP with registered voters really doesn't want RP elected. You can't find a more hostile group than this to RP's ideas and even if you did the chances of getting them regestered for the primaries is about .0001%.

This is what I'm against. These people are clearly socialists, and have been from the beginning. The people shouting end the fed are the late-comers. We shouldn't participate, but sure, go down and talk to them like Peter Schiff does. Go educate some people, as it is your perfect right to do so. However, we shouldn't associate ourselves with these types of protests. This is not our movement, and we can't pretend like if we go down there and start taking part in it, like we're actually going to turn this into a tea party rally. It's anything but that. If you're a Christian, you don't go to an atheist rally and protest with them. That is so counterproductive. Sure, go down and talk to them, but don't act like you're part of the movement. This illusion of shared principles is happening because you can find shared beliefs in almost anything or anybody. Don't act like, just because we're both frustrated, that means we advocate the same thing. Many on this board totally blind themselves to the differences and instead focus on the few similarities they can find. So many of us are just in denial about the fact that OWS was started as a liberal movement. That's why they're on wall street. Alex Jones called for an occupy the fed protest, and we see how that went. Their anger is obviously directed toward the wrong place, but we all act like we can just pretend it's not significant where they are or why they chose that location. Beside, it's way too late now. Everyone knows it's a socialist protest, and it's not just the media. We pick up the same messages from youtube videos by unbiased sources like Peter Schiff, and we get the same thing. We can't march in there now and act like we're part of it when we haven't been from the beginning.

The problem is that it's not an intellectual uprising, it's more like, "Hey I just noticed that things are kinda shitty in my life now. Now I'm mad! Who do I blame?!" Then proceed to attack the symptoms and effects of the problem, rather than rationally meditate on their inherent causes. Sure the establishment is failing and people do have a right to be pissed, but this is not some enlightenment.
