Haha..I know..kidding. my ex in laws lived right where Deliverance was filmed. Im not too crazy about moving anywhere near meth labs either.
I don't know about the rest of the country, but in this area you'd be hard pressed to find land anywhere that wasn't within a mile or two of folks making meth.
I had to post this one Deb..its only a couple of acres but the location is called Liberty Hill.

I like the idea of a bunch of like minded folks occupying / defending an area as a liberty hub but I agree it's kind of asking for unwanted interference. I've also considered having a *family homestead* sort of property in the near future. It would be great if there were a small collection of these liberty homesteads in the same neighborhood.
We are in the boat of - older, health hindered folks that it would not be feasible to go all pioneer style encampment.. especially with hills/mountains. Hubby is an amputee.. hard to walk hills and valleys with a prosthetic so only a flat land area (snow and ice-less too) with only a handful of family younger than we are that would participate.
Neither of us are terribly *able bodied* but we have our own skill sets that would be helpful in a community environment.
I have, off and on, contemplated going back to school for nursing or something medical. I end up talking myself out of it because structured learning just doesn't sit well with me - opting to read everything I can and accumulate supplies when possible for health concerns.
, and those who can buy up a considerable amount of land could help those out who couldn't manage getting their own.a bunch of like minded folks occupying / defending an area as a liberty hub
I wouldn't be surprised at all if that gets snatched up pretty quickly.
Would there be a volunteer police force on this 1,000 acres?.....if hundreds decided to move in to this set-up, what would you do about conflicts and such?

its like that in parts of Texas too..not sure about the hill country area
This would be the ideal situation, , and those who can buy up a considerable amount of land could help those out who couldn't manage getting their own.
I don't worry too much about unwanted interference, because given the choice, I would rather be in the boonies surrounded by like-minded people, than in a populated
area with the potential of being subjected to civil unrest, and/or martial law.
I also do not feel the need to be completely off the grid, I don't think it's even possible. Even if we had our own food, water and energy, we would still occasionally need to go to town for automotive parts, services, tools, tractors, etc; as well as needing other supplies, and help with possible medical emergencies, and so on.
Might be some interesting points for the readers of this thread here: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?367289-Free-Community-Project

Found it necessary to change one of the parameters, share price down to $100 and 25 shares required for each unrestricted acre. Other than that, the material in that thread holds - we're doing a small pilot which will evolve into a commercial development over time I think, and go larger in a more isolated area with a small settlement and some central infrastructure.I didn't think this was a new concept here. This would be a ideal time for me to buy into something like this. I am suddenly busy as hell and I would like to have a homestead set before things turn south again. And living around RPF'ers would be freaking awesome. I don't care how annoying they are......![]()
Where is it at Pericles?
