If trump wins Iowa, is the republican race basically over?

Do you believe that someone else must win Iowa to make this a true race?

Absolutely not. What if he wins by, say 25-24?

I doubt he is going to win Iowa in a landslide, if he does then I will be worried...

And if he does win by a large amount and several drop out and endorse the guy in 2nd what happens?

If he wins Iowa, then yes, the nomination is over. He will most certainly win NH and it just kind of snowballs from there.

Possibly the Republican party is over. If they nominate Trump, I can't see the party being viable anymore.

This version of the republican party would be over and the democrats who have an interest in having a republican party to play good cop bad cop with will resurrect one that it can tolerate. Give it a little power to make some conservative win and the same type of idiots who supports Trump now win gravitate towards the new version of the party and the charade will continue.

This is why it is very important how the party falls and who kills it.

Probably, regardless of Tronald's margin. Losing an actual election is the only thing that can deflate Trump.

If Rubio gets 2nd, he might have enough time to climb in NH as long as the others drop out. The GOPe really shot themselves in the foot here.

I think Rand's only path to the nomination is Trump not getting 1st and Rand getting at least 3rd.

I'm thinking this will be the order Trump / Cruz / Paul if this is the case, Cruz will continue to faulter, so Trump and Paul will be the two to beat.

Trump taking Iowa and NH would make all those other state polls look like this:

I honestly still find myself hoping that IF Trump wins, that he picks Paul as a running mate. These two teaming up could make some powerful things happen in Washington.

Rand has said he wouldn't want to be a part of a Trump administration.

Too stubborn, Trump is 69 he could drop dead a day after the election. Rand becomes instant president. Well all we can hope for is some stroke of luck that he wins Iowa.

Yes. Not necessarily always the case, since it's not enough to just win Iowa and then underperform in NH, but Trump is polling well there too.

To be honest I think there were just too many unfortunate current events leading up to this election cycle. Republicans are really whipped up with fear over immigrants, terrorism, etc. I'm surprised to see Bush doing as poorly as he is in this political climate... I really thought he would be the pick. I can only guess conservatives have just reached the point of hating political correctness and the media even more... since that's basically what I think Trump's support represents.

He's going to be hard to stop, Trump almost leads everywhere by a decent amount except Iowa

After all, President Camacho needed to tap Not Sure (the smartest man on the planet) for his VP, to solve all the problems...

It has all been foreseen

I've been saying this to friends and family for several months. He has NO shot in the general election; too many people will vote against him.

I've heard support from some surprising quarters.

And they say the same thing about Bernie as well.

Mussolini or Mao...what a choice.

I'm writing in Ron Paul and then getting drunk.

But then they'll say, "Oh, but if you don't vote for the party's nominee ('Mussolini'), then you're only letting the other party's nominee ('Mao') win!"

I really hate that reasoning.
