If Iran and U.S. got into Naval Confrontation, would it help Ron Paul?

Ron Paul has been saying to pull the Navy out of Iran's area ASAP. It seems like he was right on and that we should not be tempting fate with Iran. So with the close call yesterday, would this be beneficial to Ron Paul or would his stance be drowned out by the media?

it would be drowned out by the media but I dont think the people would buy the bullshit this time.

they'd turn off their TVs and join the NEW media. that is youtube.

i think if oil prices started to increase, ron could very effectively make a case for pulling out.

easy.

I think it's safe to say that it would hurt Ron Paul's chances.
Americans as a whole don't want to be held accountable for mistakes, so we'd easily get duped into a conflict by the media... in my opinion.

I think it would depend on how much the price of oil went up. More than likely it would not help. The media would scare the US by showing pictures of the HUGE Iranian fleet.

The neo-cons will say something like "see that's why we need to stay there the Iranians are crazy and we need to kill them". They always say stupid stuff like this but then forget the MOTIVE

Yep, oil prices will soar. And how are we going to do anything about Iran? Where would those troops come from? I think a draft might become "necessary" and people just aren't buying it like they were.

HOW COME pretty much every topic under the sun is being discussed in the NH PRIMARY SECTION.

???!

Make me a mod or something, this is getting ridiculous.

close

With the events happening this close to super tuesday I dont think it would be neccesarily good for the Paul campaign. There would be a certain segment of the population that would realize that Ron Paul was right all along (namely US) but a large segment would suffer from that knee jerk recation of blind patriotism and would swear that Iran "attacked us for our freedoms". They would go war crazy and I think it would hurt the chances for our man. Now if Iran hypothetically attacked our naval vessels 4-5 months ago than I think it would help us because a larger segment of the population (namely people off of this forum) would start to see body bags coming home and bungled answers for why this war happened anyway and I think it would even wake up a few people who still think Iraq was a great idea. Anyway, that is just my two cents!

Nah, it would help McCain and Hillary b/c there won't be a thorough analysis of "why and how" and it will just play to the knee-jerk reaction that "we have to do something!" So we need "experienced people in there!!!!"

The American people by and large have already accepted (i.e. have been conditioned) to see Ackmenbenjad (sp) as a nutcase and probably long for him to be dead anyway. He's the new "Hitler" and all that. So if he "attacks" our ships then it will be presented as them attacking us and we are just innocents and innocent bystanders who have a moral obligation to respond, etc.

Our press is a joke. It's no better than high school reporting.

No it wouldn't help anybody but Bush because that will allow him to invoke Presidental Directive 51

I think the media will spin this the way they always do....they want to attack us!! But I 100% agree with you, if our ships hadn't been over there messing around, Iran wouldn't be 'posturing', and that's all it was. No way Iran is going to actually attack us, they were just trying to say gtfo, this is our territory.

Exactly what Paul said on Leno last night, we'd do the same if some country had their Navy ships patrolling our coast....we'd 'posture' just the same, sending them a message to get back, this is our sovereign territory.

I can see some US warships(couldn't be russian I guess) and some small boats which Pentagon said to be iranian's...I think that snowball thrown to Hannity was more dangerous than these boats!
