Because of the sucess of Nov5th and other money bombs coming in before the end of the year, it is very possible for many of the more wealthy supporters of Ron Paul to have maxed out by the end of 2007, if they haven't already.

We need idea's on how these people can continue to donate if they have the desire and money to do so, nothing illegal of coarse. This thread is for brainstorming those idea's.

First off let me say these generous donators do not want to be defrauded or waste their hard earned money on people that would take advantage of such ones.

Here is my first idea, in your local meet up groups, no doubt you have met strong Ron Paul supporters, some of these people may not have so much money to give.
You just can't give them money to donate, that would be illegal. However what if you bought things from them at generous prices(free market capitilism). And they used that money to donate.

For example they could buy all kinds of Ron Paul gear & stuff from the official site and then resell it to maxed out donater and at a very high mark up, who would then give them away at rallies.

Ron Paul Hat $75.00
Ron Paul Shirt $50.00
That type of thing.

Of course some level of trust would be needed to pull this off within the meetup groups.

I am the organizer of the November 11th campaign. I'm a broke grad student (darn you, Trevor Lyman!) and have a great idea, but I need someone who has $100 (or 10 people who have $10). PM me if you can help. :)

there is a chipin link on ronpaulgraphs for contributions to NON-campaign activities that I think is totally legal to assist with

maybe someone with extra money can go to a meetup and afterwords help a less wealthy member correctly fill out a money order and mail it off to the campaign.

hey... i have an idea. i havnt been able to give much... im pretty broke most of the time... if i had a rich friend or family member that has maxed out... is there any harm in my friend or family writing me a 2000 check, deposit it, and then me donating it to the campaign?

and for the people that have maxed out and are insanely rich and want to keep giving... couldnt they donate the money to us poorer people so we can donate all of it to the campaign?

kinda what i said before but im hinting more this time

That's technically illegal so you don't want to be writing that on these forums.

I've maxed out, but from what I understand the max only applies to donations to the official campaign.

I'm going to continue donating to the chip-ins though.

People who have maxed out but still won't to donate might want to consider donating to these folks, so they can help pound the pavement in NH.

I think some of these suggestions aren't just "technically illegal," they are explicitly illegal.

The donation has to be your own cash, and it can't be someone else funneling cash to you. I think your major options once you hit $2,300 is setting up a 527 (e.g. Swift Boat Veterans) or something.

Borrowing an Idea

While this doesn't apply to those already maxed out, to those who plan on maxing out, yet have the wherewithall and desire to contribute more:

One of the comments suggests donating the 2300 in gold coins, eg. 46 American Eagles at $50 face value would expand your range by a bit ;)... Haven't looked into any details and I'm no lawyer, just sharing the comment..

I will be donating the max but anticipated the need to get good numbers throughout so I have paced myself. I am only up to $400 and will increase that by year's end. As his success grows so will my donations.

Maxed Out Legalities

IANAL. I am a paralegal, however. I cannot give you legal advice, but I can share my ideas.

With many of the things suggested, both on this thread and on the Internet, reasonable donors might expect a significant portion of their contribution to be used for the express advocacy of the election of Ron Paul.

Accordingly, contributions to such funds would probably count as contributions to Ron Paul's campaign. For somebody giving an extra $10 to a ChipIn fund or two, there is probably not much going to happen. However, for somebody giving thousands of dollars, it would be wise to stay within the law.

Some of the ideas presented would probably fail the substance vs. form test. No matter how much you shape and polish a turd and try to call it something else, it is still a turd. For some of the ideas presented, no matter how you try to reshape them and rename them as something else, they are still donations to Ron Paul's campaign.

Donating collectable coins might get around the donation limits, but the campaign would have to pay a 35% tax on the gain when it sells the coins.

Besides Liberty527.org, I have also created a directory of resources for maxed out donors at RonPaulMax.com.

Please pass the word. One key donor alone could make a huge difference. Many donors making 5, 6, and 7 figure contributions could swing the election.

Yours in Liberty,

Jerry

All those who have maxed out and are NOT married should promptly get married and max out the new spouse.

What about paying people for services rendered - and then if its there prerogative to donate the funds, by all means - its their money they earned. I'm self-employed as an architectural draftsman and would be happy to do a job that can earn me extra money to donate. I can't see anything illegal about this unless there was some form of contract involved that required the funds be used specifically for a Ron Paul donation.

we could use help on our chip in for new hampshire (see signature)

also ANY of the chip ins on ronpaulgrapsh.com could use help

granny warriors could use help

and ron paul riders could use help

:D
