Alrighty, I just know this is going to turn into a "who's the VP going to be" thread, but bear with me for a sec:

In a perfect universe, which candidates would you like to become President and Vice President?

For me, the best possible scenario would be former governer Gary Johnson (actual exectuve experience) for POTUS with Senator Rand Paul (heir apparent) as VP. That way we'd have Gary until 2020, and President Rand until 2028. Imagine what we could do (and undo) in 16 years.

What about Ron? Well, I'd nominate him for FED reserve chairman! Only the incorruptable Dr. No could dismantle it from the inside...

I'd like to see Ron Paul as President for foreign policy reasons.

He can try and stick Tom Woods or someone like that in as Fed chairman, and Peter Schiff can be the Treasury Sec. or something.

Why do you hate Tom Woods? You know that job would cease to exist ASAP.

Ok, bear with me, I know this probably isn't going to go over well but....most of us here want Ron Paul for President, at least I do anyway...lol. That being said, there is a unique opportunity right now that I would not pass. The democrats are currently split. Obama supporters make up less than half of their party. The other half, which I believe to be greater in number, are NOT Obama supporters. The progressives actually hate Obama because he has advocated and expanded almost all of Bush (neocon) policies. They will vote Democrat in an election only because it is the lesser of two evils. The only reason that the tea party and republicans won the midterms like they did was because many Dems refused to vote because they now feel disenfranchised, it was their way of letting the dems know that they do not agree with their "bipartisan" neocon policies. This will not happen for President though, or probably ever again. Knowing this, I think that the best choice for Ron Paul would be Dennis kucinich. Even Alan Grayson would do. The Dems know that Ron does not represent the neocons. Neither do Dennis or Alan. They are like heroes to most Dems. If Paul was to pick Kucinich as a running mate, it would almost mean a sure win because not only would he get 1/3 of the conservative vote, he would also get almost half of Obama's vote, if not more. Like I said, this is a unique opportunity and sometimes you have to compromise a little in order to get a lot.

Paul/Kucinich 2012

Ron Paul/Tom Woods 2012 and, if that doesn't work, Rand Paul/Tom Woods 2016.

Dear OP: I really hate to hate and call you a troll, because I personally consider Johnson a liberty candidate so I think it appropriate to promote him here, at least within reason. But I fear you're singing to deaf ears, because the way we win the general election is by touting our man's thirty year record as a man of peace, not war. Johnson does not have that. Doesn't mean he's not a man of peace. Doesn't mean his record isn't good in its own right. Just means we need that selling point in the general, imo, and Gary doesn't have it.

showpan, you might believe that getting the G.O.P. nomination will automatically get us hardline Republicans. But this isn't true. In fact, by the time of the convention Trump will be a non issue--unless Ron Paul does something to mortally offend the G.O.P. base like stand a serious leftist up on stage at the Republican National Convention and calling him the next VP. That would jumpstart the moribund Trump goofiness no matter how long dead it has been.

We're trying to put together a very delicate coalition for the general election. We can't afford to go overboard in this decision in any direction.

And I think I'll throw in the usual disclaimer: Long way to the nomination. Don't count these eggs as chickens. We have a lot of work to do before this is even an issue.

ron paul president
peter schiff vp
fire all other white house staff because they are irrelevant. these two need no advisors

I'm a diehard Ron Paul supporter going all the way back to 2007. Heck, it was my idea to do 'something' for Nov 5th, which eventually became the first money-bomb.

That said, Ron Paul is getting up there in years, despite his excellent heath, he'd be in his 80's if he went for a second term (I know, really getting ahead of myself). I'm greedy" I want a two-term liberty candidate, and Rand is too green.

I greatly look forward to the debates where Ron and Gary school the out of touch neocons. This will be classic.

It will be the first time I've seen two voices of reason in one presidential debate in my whole life. Hell, there haven't been all that many where there was one voice of reason.

Ron Paul / God.

You said ideal.

I put God down for VP because, honestly, I think He's got His plate pretty full. I'm not sure He's technically eligible because he's a citizen of everywhere.

ron paul/ron paul 2012

yes. we will clone him. and then they will have to assassinate him twice.
