IDEA! Collectively writing a grassroots speech and filming all of us reading it

My only concern is video and sound quality. For the video to look and sound professional we need a standard video and audio quality across the board. Editing together different quality videos looks amateurish at best.

While I understand this is grassroots, a well produced product, both in content, video and audio quality will attract people more. A good example would be the project that put together the High Tide video.

This is what I'm concerned about as well. However, if we picked out a dozen or so locations around the country... we could get all our videographers to schedule a day to shoot multiple people and as you have put out.. have a standard set of settings. Anyone who is serious about doing it could then meet up with their nearest videographer?

Logistically that might be difficult, but just a thought.

I agree though. It will be very challenging in regards to sound.. which is just as important as the video.

I believe this idea would make a great promotional(grass roots) video for the september money bomb now being promoted by the campaign. As I see it we would only need a video editor capable of taking the recorded videos of community members to make one collaborative video of our message. The sooner this video is brought to light the better. I for one support a collaborative recitation of the Declaration of Independence.

It seems appropriate to present an abbreviated version of the declaration of independence. I would like to present to following as the script for those submitting video.

This excerpt from the declaration along with the appropriate with visual aid/editing would provide a strong message not all to different from that of our fore fathers. We also would not want to extend out message past the attention span that of our fellow citizens.

I hereby volunteer myself to recording myself reciting this message, and would ask of anyone capable of assembling this message(video editor) from our community to step forward. I certainly approve artistic freedom in designing the video from start to finish, but including our message verbatim.

So far on board in reading our message on video.

I am a novice when I comes to video editing, but I feel that with this message of our recitation of this piece of literature with the visual aid of our fore fathers with that of Ron Paul would be a powerful message.

I certainly welcome any other ideas, but wish to remind everyone that time is of the essence. We must act swiftly and procure a message which is capable of being absorbed by the masses in the allotted attention span they have.

Furthermore, if this is the message we wish to portray, we must identify someone capable of assembling our message, and then identify the format of our recording the person assigned to assemble our message.

I realize this is not the entire declaration but given the attention span of most people from a marketing perspective, I saw fit to crop this piece. However, I do not object to a complete recitation of the Declaration of Independence.

I think this is a great idea, and if I had any way of recording myself I would. So I can only offer my services in one way... critiquing.

I think we need to create a more original message than a summary of the declaration of independence. I would also be wary about mentioning god or religion in a message that is supposed to garner new supporters. As an agnostic myself, if I hadn't heard Ron Paul talk before I knew of his religious beliefs I might not have listened with as open a mind. So in my humble opinion, I think it would be better to steal some key phrases from the declaration, but write a manifesto that more clearly defines our mission now and is more easily digestible.

Okay, I am really excited about this!

I've recently been inspired by all of this negative media Ron Paul has been receiving and I want to do something about it! I've started writing a speech which I was going to film myself reading it and uploading it to youtube, however I think it would be much more effective if we collectively came up with a speech (Basically explaining why people should vote for Ron Paul), and whoever wants to can film themselves reading it (With that Ron Paul supporter passion!). Then, we can get some video editors to crop it up... with all of us reading different portions and putting it into one video.

I'm telling you this will be LEGIT!!! Who's with me??

Neat idea. Two thing: first, the speech better be hella good.

Second: in order to ensure the first point, you should have me read it beforehand.

Third: allow me to do my doctoring where needed.

How about a real simple idea?

Each participant picks a Paul platform item, restates it, and declares "I am Ron Paul."

"I want to see our troops home from bases all around the world. I am Ron Paul"
"I want an economy based on sound money. I am Ron Paul."
"I don't want my neighbors in prison for smoking marijuana. I am Ron Paul."

etc, etc, etc.

It would be relatively easy to collect a bunch of these and string them together. You could even have different editions, for foreign policy, economy, civil liberties, etc.

Just a thought.

It might be cool to build on this idea and get different groups to do other similar videos. veterans, college students, mothers, teachers, etc

There could be a whole series of videos. I like the idea about reading one of Ron Pauls speech and end it with him speaking his speech. How about reading the constitution? Different languages? I like this idea.

I had also mentioned on here a while ago about an appeal to all the military to make videos supporting Ron Paul and have them play on a site continuously.

I would be able to edit this for you guys and make it look & sound all pretty and nice. Would recommend having each person record the entire script a few different times for options. Also, the final edit should should show a few words per person, not each word. The cuts would be dizzingly fast if there were a cut every word.

720p HD should be the default resolution for everyone to shoot, otherwise any SD clips would look really bad and out of place. 1080p is fine too.

The frame rate of 24p is also preferred (for a more cinematic look), but I can conform/re-time 30p down to 24p.

No interlacing either, we want everything in progressive....which is what the "p" stands for when listed after the formats & frame rates.

The script has to be very clever and powerful. If the words don't work it doesn't really have a chance of going viral.

I'm in once the script is put together. I have one of those Flip Cam Ultra HD's...would that work ok to record with?

I think its a good idea. A lot has been mentioned about consistent video quality. I would like to add, i think having consistent Audio background noise (or lack there of) is also an important issue. If you cut from one person who has a fan buzzing in the background to another with the din of a crowd, it could be distracting.

I also think the idea of using a real Ron Paul speech, where it starts off with Ron Paul, then cuts to a bunch of supporters in turn, then ends with Ron again would be a good idea. I think it will drive home the Ron has supporters point better than an original speech.

Great idea. The liberals - the honest ones - need to know that we are an inclusive bunch.

I believe in freedom for all. I am Ron Paul.
