Idea cancel your cable bomb - take the money away

Wow

Well, I tried. All I got was harrassment. Look, i would love nothing more than a good excuse to get out of this job. I dont enjoy it AT ALL. All i'm simply trying to do is make you all aware that trying to cancel cable service isnt going to get the networks to suddenly promote Ron Paul any more than they do now. We need to after the NETWORKS. IF you can find a GOOD reason to bring down cable companies, then go right ahead, save me. In the mean time, lets focus on getting Ron Paul elected and not wasting time on things that wont help.

Thanks again.

Wrong!! We don't want the OM to promote Ron Paul more, because NOBODY'S listening to them. We want the OM to just STFU!!

I'm IN! I'll cancel my cable subscription as soon as you give me the date.
I was considering cutting it already due to the price.
I don't feel that $20-30 a month justifies the one or two TV shows I watch.

Granted, I WILL miss my MythBusters and History Channel.

Gordon, your an idiot.

as for everyone else, i'm simply trying to save u from wasting your time. Go ahead and bring down cable companies. your right, that'll get Ron Paul elected for sure! Way to go! I'm going to go do something that actually helps. And you guys are right, there are LOTS of other ways to entertain, but your forgetting about the MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of people who actually value cable tv and watch it regularly. Not everyone uses Netflix or the internet. Just the intelligent people who know how. Dont forget about the countless amounts of nimrods who still watch cable regularly. All i wanted to do was make a point, and i was treated poorly by you all. I wont post again. I'm going to keep supporting Ron Paul and trying to do things that help the campaign. Thanks to everyone who didnt chew me up for no good reason.

You're not going to lose your job. Believe me. They'll have a long slide down to make decisions and changes. Cable companies won't die instantly. They'll likely renegotiate their rates or offer other incentives.

If 100,000 RP supporters dropped cable service and were paying, what, $80 per month, the cable industry takes a monthly hit of 8 million dollars. Comcast cable's last quarter had a profit of $13,294,000,000. 100,000 cancellations will barely dent this on subscription fees -- remember to take away 24 million for the 3 months that make up a quarter -- and, remember, not all of that is even profit.

If we get the liberals and Christians to join up, we can wack them to the tune of 80mil a month, and they're still doing ok. The exposure and market depth numbers won't cause a downward spiral for months.

It would take a strong concerted effort to take them out in one or two punches, but we have to start. Unless you're some serious shareholder, you'll be able to sense the changes in the winds and make the appropriate changes in your life. Long before any pink slips go out.

You're talking out your arse.

The current tech trend is hooking up a computer to your tv screen with a digital video output. It's better than cable tv because the choice is unlimited.

It ends the cable or satalite bill at the same time.

Find your bollocks.

Could you please give more detail info on how to do this. I want to try it.

Thanks

Guys I suggest watching TV on this site- http://freetube.110mb.com/

It has so many channels! Look at the news category alone, BBC, ABC 7, ABC now, 3 different BBC news channels, CBS, 3 fox channels, CNN plus, 2 CNBC channels, etc a million more.

And download TVU player, its great as well.
I watched the Mayweather fight for free with sopcast haha.

It's 2007, get with the technology!

We cancelled our cable over a year ago! Satellite too. We use an HD antenna and survive. DSL Internet. Still get stupid drug commercials on local network stations though :(

^Chill the hell out.

I wish I had cable just so I could cancel it...

That was a "reply", "buzz"(lol). Wake up.

Well you need to have at least a "dvi" output on your computer or at least an "s-video" output.

I hear blue-tooth technology possibly lets you do this wireless to your tv though i'm not sure of the extent of what is and isn't hooked up.

Obviously your Wireless, or corded mouse can do the work but I think you can get sound cards now that are specific for a tv hookup with some type of new computerized remote control.

I myself use a wireless mouse and nero software to organize my channels with an "up and down click" whenever I want to select one. Sort of like how an old tv remote would have a satalite style "menu" which you go up and down to select your channel.

You can set up background video and audio, sort of like like a screensaver or old nintendo game(if you're really bored) while you're searching channels but I haven't done this yet.

Now that you know, don't stop.

What I hear in this thread is a whole lot of bluffing. Every couple of months an email will go around when the price of gas goes up strategizing that if a large enough group of people would refuse to buy gas on a certain day it would send a message and hurt the gas companies. Bologny! It's so obviously a bluff because you know those same people would be running back to the pumps as soon as their tank runs out. Do you think those who run the mainstream media and other powerful enterprises are stupid? They aren't. They are very crafty, that is how they managed to corral you under their control in the first place. They know a bluff when they see it.

If you are truly willing to boycott television then do it permanently and do it for your own good, not for any symbolic protest. I have not watched television for 4 years and it feels wonderful not to be subjected to subliminal brainwashing and commercial advertisements. Television is not a form of entertainment. It is a form of mind control. You won't miss it. There are so many other more fulfilling ways to have fun. But sadly, most Americans, and people around the world, are so hopelessly addicted they have about as much chance of kicking television as smokers do if quitting.

^^ I don't think it's a bluff. Many people have already done it. Find your bollocks.

I heard that you can only do video output, not sound?

Hello darling.

You can do anything you want for your sound.

You can use your audio output on your computer and hook it up to a stereo system w/ speakers, or to an audio mixer(if you're a dj or tech minded) or you can even run a cable to your tv audio input itself. Some people avoid running wires and use blue-tooth or other wireless ideas.

If you want specific help, send me a pm.

I don't know how you all get by without CSPAN, but I would seriously start with newspapers, websites, networks, and radio shows for activist targets. Call and tell them what you think. Trying to bring down the nation's only unbiased and public eye on the workings of the House and Senate doesn't seem like a great idea. CSPAN, 2, 3 are the leverage for using the land where the cable lines are laid.

Personal preference for the security cam on the Legislative Branch aside, I'm not certain that canceling such service would exact the desired result. What would really get under their skin would be 100,000 letters saying that a YouTube campaign for curbing bias in the media will start with mass cancellations of all but the most basic services, followed by full cancellation, should no corrective actions be taken. How, after all, would you know that things had changed for the better if you didn't keep tabs on them? I say we try to focus ban-bombs on things like FoxNews and Bill Maher on Comedy Central. Love Bill, btw. It's just that he's willfully and dangerously ignorant about 9/11.

Cspan can be watched on it's website stream for free.

Some people will always subscribe to cable and load up new videos on youtube so it's not a big deal.

Then there are the people who stream channels on the net through a p2p even though they aren't supposed to.

Then there is net-tv which some of the big companies are trying to be a part of. Though we won't need them either since you can get anything for free online anyway.

Oh I can hardly WAIT to tell Time Warner to come pick up their shit and get it out of my house.
This month for sure.

Already done! I did it so I could give more money to Ron Paul though, not any other reason.
