Idea cancel your cable bomb - take the money away

50,000 people dropping their cable on the same day in different markets won't put a dent in the MSM. Maybe the cable company you have your cable with will be effected to a miniscule degree.

Go for the juggular: Their advertisers.

Over 60,000 people contributed to the Tea Party, and even if it were that small a number who participate in the media boycott, it *would* be effective if done on the same day.

If we advertise and promote this boycott properly, such an event wouldn't only attract the participation of Ron Paul supporters, but an entire nation sick and tired of the Old Media, their government loyalties, and their lies.

The blimp flew, this can too.

Poll anyone?

I am absolutely in favor of a mass cancellation day.

I don't know how to create a poll on here, but it would be interesting to know how many people would support it like you and I do.

Can someone pleasenstart an "Old Media Cancellation Day" poll?

Let's dump them in the ocean!

YES. YES. YES.

I've been thinking of this for a while. An organized effort to leverage viewers against networks. If our message and timing are in unity like past efforts have proven, we can come together. Our message to our cable providers could be to offer more news stations, or face a mass canceling of 100,000 accounts. We could just threaten with a petition of willing subscribers.

MarchOnTheMedia.com - I always thought this would be cool to do every March and have protesters throughout the county marching to their cable companies in anger at media coverage, spinning and propaganda.

CancelYourCable.org

Let's do this.

A La Carte Cable

The providers do not do the content. You just need to quit watching the news stations. Ron Paul is for a bill that allows people to choose their programming instead of being stuck with a package. That would be power. Pick and choose which stations you want.

My dream. A La Carte Cable. Is that true? An A La Carte Cable Bill in the House? Whoa. I never knew.

i have been without television for over 3 years now. one of the best, most liberating decisions i have ever made in my life. the deprogramming process has brought me countless blessings.

Agree to disagree.

I hope you have a list printed out of all the products/services that the MSM sponsors produce/provide so you don't support them while getting rid of your cable.

As I've stated before, I'm a video editor for a TV station... cancelling your service WILL NOT do much. You have to go straight at the advertisers... that is who is paying the MSM. Like someone said earlier... they blacked us out, let's black them out! -Tyler

We need to make it happen at one specified time. Everybody cancel at once.

Guys, we don't have to make this just an RP thing.

Huckabee supporters complain about the media too. We can join with a lot of people. Liberals hate FOX news. There is a whole lot of media hating going on, and we can make this thing explode.

i have stopped all corporate stuff long ago, and it's really fabulous, but i still have cable. the cable co has me held captive, as there is only that one co. help!!! is there some other way to get proper service so i can use my computer? if so, i can boycott the cable co too.

Not really (are you worried about your job??).Slapping the advertisers would be like boycotting the bus manufacturers instead of the Montgomery Bus Transit co. in the great Montgomery Bus Boycott.

Boycotting the advertisers is much more difficult than unplugging. When the OM falls, the advertisers will move on to other New Media, too...and maybe speak more truthfully about their products & services.

Everyone is fed up.

Agree!! Everyone must see the movie "Network"

I think its a great idea. If we get enough people to cancel there cable service, who knows we could make a impact.

Cancelling cable?

Hey guys, I work for Cox Communications and unfortunately cancelling your service will NOT make any difference other than leave you without any entertainment on a lonely weeknight. The cable companies only get contracts to play certain stations. If you cancel your service, their will still be millions of subscribers. Sure, you might hurt cable company business but CNN and the like will still make plenty in contracts because the cable companies have to pay the networks regardless of whether or not the cable companies have subscribers. And sure, if you got the majority of cable subscribers to give up their service, you might stand a chance. I believe it would be better to focus on the networks themselves rather than the providers. That should give us maximum impact. I know others have stated that cancelling service wont help but I just wanted to add my 2 cents. Thanks everyone :)

You're talking out your arse.

The current tech trend is hooking up a computer to your tv screen with a digital video output. It's better than cable tv because the choice is unlimited.

It ends the cable or satalite bill at the same time.

Find your bollocks.

Heard it before

A lot of you guys who work for the cable companies are saying the same lame thing. You're just worried about your jobs, it seems.

What lost "entertainment on a lonely weeknight?" Have you ever heard of Netflix? How about real live people?

Come on. It worked in Montgomery Alabama. People gave up TRANSIT for justice, and you're worried about entertainment???
