Bought new OSX Server box and dropped it into the DMZ of a FQDN. I will firewall it, but for now want to remove potential roadblocks. Most things work as expected, but the one thing I need it most for, collaborative calendaring, will not operate at the user level. It seems to be a DNS text entry level fix as far as I can tell, but help would be awesome.

Does the domain name resolve to the correct IP?
Is it correct to assume the device at the correct IP is a SOHO router (since you mentioned DMZ)?

yes. 144ridgewood.com comes straight home, backwards and forwards from what I can tell. It satisfies all the FQDN requirements i have found.

I am a bit in the woods because I am running this through a dyndns custom DNS service, which adds a few twists.

aye,

--cable--cablerouter|--SOHOrouterWAP--GbitSwitch--all devices.

once i'm operational, it will become:

--cable--cablerouter|--Firewall--GbitSwitch--all devices & WAP

Gunny,
I am seeing 144ridewood.com as 75.189.236.29, is this correct?

Why bother hosting this yourself? for collaborative calendars google's cal works fine for me and my family.

Glen, is this a public facing app? if it is, can you post a link to the offending pages?

this is? hxxp://144ridgewood.com/ical/

can you get me a login?

does osx server require all users that use ical to have a local account on the server? My guess is that it would but I have only worked with windows servers.

check your url's, make sure paths are correct. You have a resource named webcal, but the site is pointing towards ical.

Yes, it does. It is a well protected calendar server, I'll also have a public calendar with auto email notifications to my mailing lists for RSVP's and new events. That part of the chain is already set up.

for telephone push notifications and canvassing volunteers in the field. I will n the next campaign cycle also want a phone app to direct and interact with the public on the canvass. I am thinking of an iPad with a video phone so "the candidate" can answer people;s question when a volunteer arrives. That way we can double the canvass I think, plus reporting GOTV feedback on a live wiki by precinct and neighborhood......

It started a month ago with an attempt to redirect just a subdomain that went nowhere. I reinstalled server on a fresh disk after acquiring the FQDN, but dyndns is throwing up issues with subdomains. I nead to clear the public folder to zero and start over.

Everything else is gangbusters but ical is kicking my *$$ But iCal can do some magic with local coordination, push notification, and today's cellphone culture.

is iCal supposed to redirect to a subdomain? From what I can tell, all of your resources are running off a subfolder in the root domain.

When you reinstalled, did you copy anything over from the old directories? This just looks like you need to rename a path somewhere, or if you already renamed the path, maybe you missed one in a config file somewhere.

At this point I don't care how it runs so long as it runs. :o but a subdomain would be best so users can link/connect easy.

It's DAV kicking me in the head i think.
