If you fall for Zippyjuan's propaganda you will believe we here in Europe are currently taking the austerity route..

What Austerity?

05/09/2012 17:43 by Bill Wilson, President of Americans for Limited Government

What Austerity?

By mainstream media accounts, the presidential election in France and parliamentary elections in Greece on May 6 were overwhelming verdicts against “austerity” measures being implemented in Europe.

There is only one problem. It is a lie.

First off, austerity was never really tried. Not really.

In France for example, according to Eurostat, annual expenditures have actually increased from €1.095 trillion to €1.118 trillion in 2011. In fact spending has increased every single year for the past decade. The debt there increased too from €1.932 trillion €1.987 trillion last year, just as it did every year before.

Real “austere”. The French spent more, and they borrowed more.

The deficit in France did decrease by about €34 billion in 2011, but that was largely because of a €56.6 billion surge in tax revenues. Again, there were no spending cuts. Zero.

Zippyjuan is merely giving us the party-line, he doesn't put any undue emphasis on it.

I for one appreciate his tireless efforts to educate me on all things economics ;)

^ an example of how easy it is to fall prey to his propaganda.

I'm sorry but it's not just an effort to educate us, what he is doing is purposefully highlighting what coincides with the PR the status quo hides their scam and fraud behind and avoids mentioning anything that would damage or expose that PR.

For example it took me 2 pages of posts back and forth with him until he admitted that the FED doesn't really have any money, that all they have is a printing press and that they're creating money out of thin air. He used all the tricks provided by the PR possible to avoid admitting that and he continues to do so even after his admission.

So excuse me but no! That guy however knowledgeable about economics is a plain old shill and you should be always very wary when you read any of his posts.

Of course I'm wary, don't need to worry on that account.

Zippy is fine, he gives factual information, he doesn't troll, he's polite and knowledgeable, and I really can't decide if he is actually with us or against us.

There are shills and there are shills, and in the end we all shill to some extent for our own positions. I can't find much fault in Zippy, he's presenting the status quo to be sure but at least he's up-front about it.

Besides, he's a great contra-indicator too, sometimes I would miss what to be against if he didn't bring it to my attention by supporting it ;)

I don't think Zip is so much a troll/propagandist as generally cynical. I personally appreciate that he challenges the more poorly thought out arguments around here. (even though he and I disagree on a number of things) :)

I don't agree with Zippy on everything, but there have been several BS news stories posted here that he researched and successfully debunked. I appreciate it when someone checks the facts before assuming a story is true and lets us know. Saves me time.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and they all stink except your own.

If you want to understand Zippy, read his sig. He is an apologist for government monetary policy and banking, and on this we disagree. But he very consistently fights against unreasonable fear. And that is a noble battle.

I very much appreciate zippyjuan's posts. He is a breath of fresh air in the econ & sound money subforum.

Not mine. Mine STINKS, badly & frequently. Makes me glad I work in a large, noisy factory as it's easy to deflect blame or avoid detection.

As a fellow Denver Bronco fan, I like Zippy except for his position that privileged people should keep their boot on the throat of the downtrodden. I just can't agree that counterfeiters should be in power.

I suspect Zip is fine , I am not an optomist or pessimist but probably have less faith than most.

Yep, don't 'fear' the central planners and their grand plan for all of us. Everything is going to be OK. Noble battle, my ass
